Dollar for dollar, these outshine AirPods! UPDATED 3x!
Now, listen to what I’m saying. I’m in no way claiming they’re all around better than Apple AirPods (AA). What I am saying is that for what these PIFFA earbuds cost and what they do compared to AA and what they do, there’s a huge discrepancy in cost and function. AA are at least $100 for an older gen pair. For what they cost, functions should include AT LEAST the basics of what these way cheaper earbuds can do. You can buy 5 of these at the AA price point and I did! After not being sure if I wanted AA due to the style, I decided to buy 3 low cost earbuds, all diff styles, to see which I preferred. I usually use my over the ear beats wireless pro headphones but wanted something smaller I could throw in my bag and forget until needed. I liked these so much I ended up ordering 7 more total for myself and to give as gifts. The people gifted them absolutely love them and were just as surprised as I that they were such great quality at such a great price. I decided it was better to have 5 pair, in this jacket pocket or that bag, ready to go than one pair of AA that I have to remember to charge every few days since the case only recharges the AA 4x before needing re-charging. Plus, what do I use when they’re re-charging? What if I lose one? That’s too much stress over earbuds. With PIFFA earbuds, at all times I now have power in my earbuds to listen to music on the go. They take about 2 hrs to fully charge but may charge slower if you use the incorrect cable. DO NOT use some other usb cable. Use the one included. It really makes a diff when charging. I used a cable from one of the other cheaper pair and it was taking forever to charge. I decided to see if swapping the random for the one that came w it would make it charge faster and it 100% did. It’s a hassle to have so many cables but each one is made to allow a certain amount of power to flow through it in a certain amount of time, etc. If you’re having trouble w slow charging, this could be why. Even using an electrical/extension cord w it will extend the charging time significantly. Believe me, just save yourself a headache and use the one included plugged straight to the socket like the manufacturer intended. The best thing is I also have battery power to charge my headphones, a small fan, cell phone, etc w a usb cable (not included) using the port on the side. Bonus that the port cover is attached to the case and snuggly closes after use. Why doesn’t AA have any of this??? The PIFFA earbuds battery life puts AA to shame. 150+ hours? That’s incredible and 100% true. I use them daily 6-7 hrs and charge them every 2 weeks. You can charge the earbuds roughly 16x (yup, read that right,…16!) before needing to charge the case. Why is there such a big diff in battery power between these and AA? The earbuds automatically charge when you put them back into the case and will blink green while charging. They’ll turn off after 5+ minutes. Or you can use one while charging the other so the charge will last even longer. I purchased the same exact earbuds from a diff seller whom no longer has them so I gave this seller a shot hoping they’d be the same exact version. I’m thrilled to say that it didn’t matter who sold it or what box they come inside (for reference, they did come in diff boxes between the 2 sellers though 1 seller did sell them packaged in both types)….these earbuds rock. I did find them on other sites for $30-$60 plus shipping. So this is for sure the best deal online. They did have them available in white which were really cool too and I kick myself for not buying when available since they’re only on eBay now for way too much $. What I love most about these earbuds is that the battery lasts forever. No joke. I thought the battery life claimed in the product details was majorly exaggerated but it’s not. While bigger than AA case, nothing as far as earbuds compares to the battery life of PIFFA earbuds. It’s very convenient and helpful that the case has a small LED power indicator screen that shows how much power is in both the L/R earbud as well as the entire case. So even when the case says it’s empty, you still have at least 6-8 hours of earbud power if they’re fully charged. Or if they’re getting low, you can use one and charge the other. Or you can split and share them w another person. Once you set up the Bluetooth connection, which is as easy as going to settings and choosing A66, that’s it. You’re good to go! After the first time connecting to Bluetooth, they’ll automatically connect and pair (the lady will let you know by saying “connecting” & “paired”) when opening the case. If they don’t connect, just go to settings and re-connect. If you still have issues, turn off Bluetooth for a few seconds, turn on then choose A66 again to connect after it pops up under your devices. The earbuds kept wanting to automatically connect to my tv (I’d paired then before to make sure it worked) so I had to disconnect them from it first before re-connecting to my phone. I read that some people had issues w connecting so make sure to disconnect from anything else you’ve used them with first then try pairing/connecting. As far as the sound, they’re not going to blow out your eardrums but I believe they’re more than sufficiently loud. There’s plenty enough bass unless you’re one of those idiots driving your car around in public and shaking everyone’s homes w your system. These might be too weak for you then but they drown out everything but my hound dogs bark. The clarity of voices is crisp w no echoing. A solid 9/10. The increase in volume is implemented in increments of 1 until it reaches 10 where it maxes out. A Chinese ladies voice prompt will inform you that you’ve reached “maximum volume”. So if AA are suppose to be10/10 (you’d think because they’re top of the line and the most expensive) where is the $ in between that they’re charging people? That’s a lot more to pay for a 20-25% (I’m guessing and being very generous) increase in volume. Also, I'm not happy w not being able to use the case as a portable battery charger. That’s a huge feature that makes (for me) these Piffa earbuds an overall better choice than AA. I’ll gladly sacrifice a little volume for the ability to charge stuff at will. The noise canceling is 8/10 as well. When listening to something calm or just talking, I can slightly hear my dog barking far off in the background (if she’s indoors) but if I’m listening to music, I can’t hear her or anything at all. So again, plenty sufficient for me. They’re easy to work too. The manual covers all the basics.. Anything else can be learnt from customer service, watching yt videos or reading reviews. At first they’re a little clunky and chunky but once you get used to them, you will love them and so will your wallet. One more thing to remember that I think is behind negative reviews. If one earbud won’t work, check that it’s not turned off. Sometimes when long pressing for more then 5 sec, you can accidentally turn it off. Turn on by long pressing again. You’ll hear the lady confirm that they’re on. I think many people think they’re broken because they’re not aware they turned off one or it was already off. I had the same thing happen and figured it out after reading another review so I thought I’d pass this important detail along. The only issue I’ve had w these is that while lying in bed on my back, I’ve paused/skipped music when turning my head all the way to the side because my bare shoulder brushed against the earbud. This isn’t a dealbreaker because it rarely happens but they are very responsive and this may annoy people that expect perfection. I personally don’t mind because they allow me to answer my phone (1 tap or 2 to reject) w my bare shoulder in case my hands are full or dirty. When holding them especially while in-ear, use your thumb, index and middle finger to grip around the sides so as to avoid accidental tapping. It’ll take a few days to get used to adjusting them like this. Or use the little part that sticks out. They come w various sizes of silicone covers for every type ear canal. I’ve yet to use them much for talking on the phone so I can’t speak to their efficiency in varying noise polluted environments. In total, I have been using them for 3+ months and see no reduction in performance or battery life. If anything, I’ve just gotten used to and appreciate them even more. I’m so extremely happy about them and been telling everyone I know who doesn’t own AA to buy a pair. (I should be getting commission from the seller from all the people whom have purchased them because of me.) All in all, I can’t stress how amazing I think these PIFFA earbuds are and would highly recommend them to everyone. Again, my review is based on performance and quality for the price I paid. IMHO, there are not many other earbuds that compare except when it comes to the sound quality/noise cancellation and that’s beats and AA. But again, shouldn’t they because you’re paying so much for them? In the beginning I said I wasn’t claiming that PIFFA earbuds are better than AA but they’re darn close! Plus they’re way cheaper w more (and better) features. If you’re still not sure, just pull the trigger before they’re no longer available.UPDATE 12/2023: I just bought 2 more pair of these to give as gifts. I’ve lost count now of how many I have or have given as gifts. I read some of the negative reviews and don’t know if perhaps some users are accidentally turning them off, or don’t know how to ‘forget and re-pair’ in their settings? I did this too and thought they were broken until fiddling w them some more and figuring it out. Then I re-read all the reviews which now made sense as far as what to do in case they don’t work, etc. Alas, there are always a few bad apples that get through quality control and perhaps some people just got a defective pair? It happens. But I’ve purchased at least 9 pair and so far none have given me or the users any issues whatsoever.. (2 pair are unopened.) I use these at least 6-7 hours a day and the charge is still amazing. No complaints! If I could find them in white, I’d be even happier! The company really should bring them back!!*I’ll keep updating as to how they’re holding up, etc. Please tap the button at the bottom of the review if you found it helpful. Thanks.Update: 3/2024: I love these so much but sad to say they’re no longer available. So if you find a pair on a resale site, buy them! I have one brand new pair left and I’m hoarding them until the other ones break. Since all are working well, it might be awhile. I really hope the manufacturer decides to produce more because word was just getting out about how amazing these earbuds are. (See yt unboxings/reviews.)Update 7/24: I still use these earbuds 6-7 hrs a day. I’ve noticed that once they get down to 25%, they lose power significantly faster than the first 75% of battery power when I place the earbuds back in after using. Because of how long the battery power lasts in the first place, it’s not a big deal. They still last at least twice as long as any other earbuds. They are also very easy to clean w a q-tip and some iso alcohol. I’ve had zero issues w these earbuds. Also, the battery will decrease faster w the volume turned up high all the time than on a mid level. So that matters too as far as longevity. Keep that in mind! One thing I want to point out is that I thought I’d try to use the largest earbud silicone tips that came w them. I figured that the larger the piece of silicone, the snugger the fit and it would plug every little hole sound could get through. This was a BAD idea. The very first time I put it in my ear, it came off and got stuck. Luckily, I was able to use tweezers to pull it out because it was still very visible. So don’t be like me (and another reviewer) whom did this. When deciding which to use, use the one that fits perfectly. Not too big, not too small. You want to be able to smoothly push it in & pull it out of your ear canal but not w force. Since I switched back to the size I normally use (the mid), this has not happened again. Last, they do come in 2 diff mah. One is a few hundred mah higher than the other but they look identical except for the detailed info on the back. I personally can’t tell much difference though I mainly use the lower mah model which is the one I’m basing this review on. Both are great but some reviewers actually prefer the original (lower mah) because the individual earbud power % shows all the time on the screen and not just when the case is opened. (This is per another reviewer who had a side by side pic and went over the pros/cons of the 2 different mah versions.) I’d think it would just eat up more battery to display that info but to each his own. Whether it’s Nipell/Piffa/or the other brand that sells it, this model is amazing and affordable! I’d highly recommend either or both models before they’re out of stock again.
