Cute kit for kids
This is a laser cut kit with a few electronics. Nothing complicated or expensive about it. My 12 year old enjoyed putting it together with his dad. Things seemed to fit together just fine.Like most things that like this, it’s fun while he kids put it together, play with for a day or so, and then leave behind. You don’t buy this for the long term, but rather as an educational tool for the kids. It works just fine and my kid had fun while doing it.

Great way to teach the little ones electricity can start fires!
Have one of those kids that doesn't respect electricity or quality manufactured goods? This is for you! Not only will it come with a box that will list parts that won't be inside, the instructions within the box are from a completely different company! Don't want those little ones thinking the gifts you are buying them will function as it says on the box or in the Amazon description, gotta keep them guessing. After you read the instructions in the box which are from a completely different company and set, your precious young ones mind can gaze upon the few pieces of LAZER cut wood, done with a process with such tight tolerances they will know for sure that all of the misaligned cuts and holes must have been done completely on purpose. After forcing the box portion together (easily identifiable numbered parts in the instructions...for the other set they are written for, as the set you receive has no numbered parts) you will both behold the wonderful quick connect parts and wires the instructions don't tell you how to put together. As a bonus, if you have the knowledge of basic electronics (which the kid you bought it for won't as that was the reason you bought it) you will immediately see that none of the quick connections will work as the male/female connections will not be able to be used to complete the project. Don't despair, this only means your young child will now have to learn soldering tiny connections in incredibly close proximity to cheap plastic parts. At the end of the day your bundle of joy will be the proud owner of a poorly functioning "trap box" they can play with until the smoke detectors go off and as we all know $30 is nothing compared to your 7 year old having the experience of seeing fire trucks up close. Only wish I could give more stars, I love Amazon ❤️.

Pretty Fun
This was a fun stem toy. The fact that it traps things isnt great.. my daughter didnt like that. But it was fun to build!

Good STEM toy, smaller kids will need help
This toy is interesting. The pieces are well laid out and the instructions are fairly easy to follow. However, this toy was a challenge for my 7 and 12 year old. This toys is great for kids who have the ability to focus and sit still. My kids are not the sit and focus type. My ADHD babies could not do this project in one sitting. We did this project together, over the course of two days. After opening and examining every piece, we noticed that the connection parts are very specific. My daughter nearly split a piece after attempting to connect pieces together. We nearly broke one of the long pieces. Please use gentle hands and light pressure. It was also difficult for me to navigate. I understand that this is for ages 8 and up, but the way it's written is not geared toward a child that is that age.We continued to work on this for two days and eventually put everything together. My daughter added paint and glitter. This was a fun but tedious project. I enjoyed the time with the kids, but their frustration and mine were in extremes at times. This was one that took some time. Do not expect this to be a quick and easy project. It is not. If you have an older child that can sit through the project and continue to hold their patience, then this is the project for you.I wanted to love this. I do not hate it. The instructions, cuts for materials and connection could be enhanced to better suit smaller children.

It’s a trap, but not the kind I expected.
I got this as a Christmas gift for my 7yo and 10yo kids. They both have enjoyed similar STEAM wooden/electric projects in the past, and I expected this would be right up their alley. The concept was spot-on for their interests. I had gotten them a number of STEAM toys for Christmas, and my 7yo went straight for this one when I dedicated time to work on them. I knew he might need some help assembling components that require more precision and/or strength than he has, but this is normal and I was available. When my 7yo asked for my help, I was not expecting to find missing instructions. I frowned, reread the instructions multiple times, looked at the parts, looked at the instructions… flipped through the remaining instructions to see if they might shed some light on things, flipped through the previous instructions… I eventually realized that the ENTIRE guidance for how to connect the electronic circuit was split between a page with a diagram of the electric circuit (trap excluded) and a picture of their positions–but no descriptions on where to place wires, etc–on the box. I provided pictures of each so you can see for yourself what I mean.It was around this point that I realized that my 7yo would not be able to complete this project without immense frustration and constant supervision from me, and I redirected him to try one of the other STEAM Christmas gifts.I sat down and then tried to sort out how the heck this thing went together from the limited information provided. A few minutes later, I realized it doesn’t. Both of the battery boxes would have to be completely loose for you to both reach the screw on one side and the on/off switch on the other side, which is really not great since they would tug on wires while being moved around. There’s also a set of ~5-6 wires attached together in a wide band that needs to somehow fit through a tiny hole to a component underneath for the provided wires to be sufficient. There may be other unrealistic challenges too, but that’s about where I stopped and said, “Nope! Not worth the extra work necessary to make this functional!”Also, this little device wants you to dedicate 6 AA batteries to it. That’s unreal. In short, the trap box kit is a trap. It’s impossible to assemble when following the provided instructions and materials. Though it’s a very cool concept, it’s a waste of time and money as is.
