Missie: The Life and Times of Annie Oakley

Refreshing To Read...
I found the book most enjoyable and interesting written by Annie’s niece...it gives you inside perspective that you would not get otherwise. It was refreshing to read about this selfless woman and how she had compassion on those less fortunate. She’s the kind of example we need today in a generation that’s become more and more self-centered! I recommend this book... you won’t be disappointed!

I especially liked Missie because it was written by Annie Oakley's niece
I especially liked Missie because it was written by Annie Oakley's niece, Annie Fern Swartwout. I enjoyed the stories she told about Frank teaching Annie Fern to shoot. Learning that Annie Fern traveled with Annie and Frank and the Buffalo Bill,s Wild West Show made it all the more real. I thought it was very interesting to learn that those who knew Frank Butler and Annie Oakley called them Jimmie and Missie. I enjoyed reading the poetry that Frank wrote too. Greenville, Ohio is my home town and I have heard about Annie Oakley all my life. I have taken many of my friends to visit the Grave site at Brock, Ohio near Greenville,Ohio. I rate this book with five stars. Sincerely, Sue Corle

Great story.
I love the story. Really glad it was written. Wish she would have hired an editor. Difficult to read as redundant prose hard to overcome. Truly author loved her aunt and worth reading for that alone. I recommend it just to see the story.

Annie Oakley
While there are many books on Annie there is a restaurant my son owns in Nutley NJ that is named after her. She once lived in Nutley and my son thought it would be an honor to her and the community to name his restaurant after her. It is known as the Oakley Kitchen.

Interesting book
Interesting book, with insights on how a country girl from an impoverished and abused background became a wealthy, world-known traveler and friend of Indian chiefs plus kings and queens on multiple continents - all without becoming pretentious or conceited, remaining very generous and down to earth.

Excellent book written by her niece and at the same ...
Excellent book written by her niece and at the same time Annie was alive. OMG Annie was a survivor and endured many hardships but she never let herself get into pity. She is a perfect role model for all young girls and boys that think they can never accomplish anything. Wrong.
