If connected to a dehumidifier, would it pump the water 6 ft up and then 10 ft horizontally

It should work. Mine's connected to the A/C unit, and it works fine even with about a 30'ft horizontal piping.

Will this work to pump Water softener recycling?

I am not sure what water pump recycling means, but if you are asking if it will move water from one area to another, then Yes it will.

Do you need to use the wires sticking out of the top if using to drain a dehumidifier?

There are two sets of wiring coming out of the pump. One is a three prong power plug, and yes you will need to plug it into an outlet to power it. The second, 2 wire set, is for connection to your furnas or dehumidifier if you want to have automatic shut down of the furnas or dehumidifier should the pump experience an extremely high water level. You don't have to connect these two wires unless you want the extra protection it affords. That is assuming your furnas or dehumidifier has this option.
