Bel’s father needs money to care for his elderly father, so he decides to participate in a documentary about the disappearance of his wife, Rachel Price. Bel doesn’t want to rehash everything over and over again but she wants to help her dad. She wonders if the documentary will help find her mom by rekindling the investigation. Also, Bel can’t shake the thought that her mom abandoned her all those years ago and that she just might be alive somewhere. The documentary is just the beginning of the chaos that's to come. Likes/dislikes: I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery! The character development was interesting and the author showed Bel’s coping mechanisms of cruelty and shoplifting small items as a way to deal with the abandonment she’s had in her lifetime. The documentary idea was great as it helped show the changes in the family and Bel’s perspective of the situation. Mature content: PG for kissing. Language: R for 53 swears and 121 f-words. Violence: PG-13 for assault. Ethnicity: predominantly white with mention of a brown skin background character. Review: Twisty turny ride - It took me a bit for my interest to really get in this book, but I’m glad I stuck with it. So many twists and turns, even when you’re sure you’re following and there is nothing else that can surprise you, they throw a curveball your way! There was mystery and suspense as well as difficult familial relationships and figuring out if you should trust your gut or what you’re being told. Also there’s some pretty good gaslighting going on of characters throughout the book that finally made sense in the end. Everything is wrapped up and there are no lingering questions at the end which I appreciate. I like how all of the characters interacted and became subjects as well in the twists and you got to see a bit of everyone. I was a little annoyed by MC but she’s a teenager so I chalked some of her attitude towards her being captured extremely realistically.

I owe this book my life!!
Holly Jackson can truly do no wrong in my eyes. As I write this review, I think this should be my public thank you letter to Holly Jackson for single handedly getting me out of the worst book slump I’ve been in to date. We’re talking a book slump that I was convinced I would never read another book again. Bel Price’s mother, Rachel, went missing 16 years ago without a trace and has left a cloud of mystery over their family since. Bel’s Dad agrees to film a documentary on her disappearance in turn involving Bel. This story was so much more than a YA mystery. The plot twists in this book gave me whiplash in the best way. It hooked me from the very first 3 chapters and had me guessing until the very last. This story is one of loyalty and justice and trauma. Bel’s character was so perfectly written and HJ explained having human teenage emotions on paper as if I had written them from my brain itself. Holly Jackson is now an auto-buy author for me and I have read all her published work to date. She has such an amazing gift and I love the stories from her brain. Even though her characters are YA, there is something we can take from all of them. Thank you NetGalley for sending me this arc! 🤍

Plenty of twists and turns!
Four stars only because the main character, Bel, was too broody and “woe is me” attitude for most of the book. The reasoning all comes together at the end of the book where there is plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing and turning the pages!

Really good
I really like this book, I wasn’t surprised though but I really thought Bel was dumb like are you really going into a room and confronting all this people like nothing? I get they are your family but it could have turn sour really quick just as his dad did that to her in Taco Bell, so we already know nobody cares, and I kept rolling my eyes every single time she did this and also all the time she repeated “this is it” like no it’s not, specially not the way you are doing everything! Like I said I wasn’t surprised but it was worth it, it was satisfying to see him fall not just metaphorically but literally, I enjoyed this author from gggtm and I thought I should read more of her sadly she doesn’t have many but that’s good, quality over quantity. Overall a good book.

While the plot is full of twists and turns, some readers may find the pacing uneven. However, the strong character development and the satisfying conclusion make up for any minor flaws. Overall, The Reappearance of Rachel Price is a thrilling and well-crafted mystery that will leave readers wanting more.

Where to start? I am a huge fan of Holly Jackson and I’ve read all her books. This book was so fun the story about Bel price and everything that happened. I did guess some things but damn what was Charlie a manipulative person, I was second guessing myself so much until the end. I loved Ash too, it was a very small romance plot but it was there and it was very fun. The things Rachel price went through were so sad and horrible. (I don’t think there are trigger warnings, but I am not to sure please do check) Overall I loved the story, the writing, super fun ya read!
