I bought this to keep in the fridge for wet trash. It works perfectly. It keeps the smells locked in. I just reuse supermarket bags to line it. It is sturdy for use and easy to clean if anything gets spilt on it. Perfect for what I wanted!

I used to have a small bucket to use as a countertop compost bin. but we adopted a new cat and he likes to go compost bin diving. so had to find something that had a lid and didn't have any bells/whistles and didn't take too much space. This one is very simple. works well, and when closed the cat doesn't express any interest, so it serves the purpose as intended. If he starts prying the lid open, i'll probably have to devise some sort of "lock" (velcro strap, etc). but so far so good, as clearly the cat isn't clever/curious enough to attempt opening the lid yet. plastic is suitably solid and not flimsy. lid doesn't lock but seems to seal well enough. I use with a 2-gal compostable lining. the lid and the top frame (holds the lining in place) does get dirty, but it's easy to just hand wash it. very pleased.

This aesthetically looks nice and NEVER smells! It’s easy to wipe down, open, leave open, and remove compost bags. I would highly recommend it.

The Brabantia bin (1.6 gal) is the perfect solution to collecting food scraps for composting. My biodegradable bags (bought on Amazon) fit and the design is very sleek. The lid closes easily (no noise and seems to be air tight). It does not have a charcoal filter as some other bins do, but not sure that matters. Adding baking soda to smelly scraps kills the fungi that are needed to break down organic matter so that's a no-no, but since the bin contains odors completely, that's a non-issue. Great product!
