Water should be good.
We have used this for over a year now. Of course you do have to change out the filters periodically but this has been a game changer for us.

It works great with great customer service
This unit filters the water very quickly. However, when I tested it with my TDS meter it showed 149 ppm. Their information inside the package says it will not register properly with a TDS meter. I wrote to the manufacturer by email to ask how I would test it. And they returned my message and handled the problem efficiently and quickly. About a month later it seem to not be draining properly and again they answered my email quickly and resolved my problem. I give this product and customer service five stars. I purchased the one and a half gallon size and it’s perfect for one to two people. The taste of the water is perfect. I have been camping and on the road so it works very well for me.

Works great but there's things to consider....
The unit works as advertised and is simple to put together. However.... In my case we have very hard water and very high TDS where I live so I opted for the TDS filters to add to it. They did their job but that caused the pH to drop to about 3.4. I'm still learning this water stuff but that's no good for my plants or for me from what I read. Without the tds filters TDS is unaffected but in my house that means 1000ppm from my tap! This also isn't good. My only point is this thing may depend on your actual needs..I got a countertop RO machine for my drinking water for not much more and both the TDS and pH are great for drinking. However I'm a bit of a prepper so I wanted this for such an occasion or camping. Plus I wanted it for my plants to reduce the wear and tear on my counter top RO filter. The unit works great and I have zero complaints otherwise..this is more about understanding what you expect or didn't expect from the water and you won't know that if you don't test it. Hope that helps.

Doesn't work but we all want it to
This product leaks and ruins your floor and carpets. AND it leaks everywhere. If you put water that doesn't filter to the bottom half the rubber gauge doesn't hold so you can only put enough water to fill up the bottom container. Unfortunately the bottom container start to leak via the on/off lever. Concept great - real life working poor, I am idisappointed - I wanted this product to be the best.

Excellent product, excellent customer service
June 26, 2025 We wanted a small countertop water filtration system and this one popped up on my Amazon search. We received the unit two days ago and we are very pleased with the speed it filters. We used food coloring in the top tank to make sure we had the filters on tight enough. We are on well water and we test our water annually. The copper levels were higher than acceptable which is why we bought this filtration system. Water from the faucet shows high levels; water from the Purewell shows no copper. A product without a company behind it can be problematic. I am pleased to say I needed to contact Purewell and their response was timely, factual, and expressed a genuine interest in what we needed from them. They believe in their product. This is one of those rare companies who know we as consumers have choices and they appreciate it when we choose them. As with any product I review, I always end with the question of would I buy this again? Yes. Edit: July 10, 2025 We liked it so much we bought another one. We are very happy with both purchases.

Priming the filter is a nightmare!!
I don't know what kind of faucets people have but I can't get enough pressure to prime the damn filter. The kitchen sink has a sprayer, which is useless. The bathroom sinks are too shallow to fit the filter. The shower has a large sprayer. I had to clean our old crusty basement set-tub sink and when I used that, water goes EVERYWHERE!! I'm going to try to make some kind of a garden hose to 1/4" hose adapter and see if that works, but if that doesn't work I'm returning this POS! I'm testing this in the house because we want to take it in the RV, but I'm sure I'll have the same (or worse) problems there!! UPDATE after a month of using the product: Working great. I purchased a small hand pump and that seems to solve the prime/purge issues. One issue is that I don't really use the full capacity (1.5 gallons) every day. Another issue is that even though the unit is made of stainless steel, the washers for the lid/handle are not and they started rusting in the first 2 weeks of use. I purchased some small Teflon washers and that fixed the problem. Also, I can see where I'm only using about 1/2 of the filter (the bottom) effectively. If the filters were made so they could be reversed (maybe unscrew the top & bottom and switch them) you could get more even life out of them.

Travels Well in Camper Van
This filter is great and one vessel stores inverted in the other for compact storage in my camper van. I couldn’t find any secure place to carry the Berkey in my van, but this one is totally doable. I carry it in it’s inverted form in a bucket under the rear sofa and pull it out when I need to filter drinking water from my water tank.
