surprisingly handy after surgery
i ordered this as a potential aid for my father who just had a partial cystoscopy, hes bloated and swollen from that and weighs normally around 220 or so. this was easy to "install" and it has come in handy. im fairly strong but not enough yet to help lift my fathers upper half to have him sit up for brief moments while i adjust his pillows. i have him grab onto this ladder and hes able to lift himself up enough for me to move his pillows without causing him any real discomfort. its not needed everyday, and lately its not needed at all since hes recovering and getting better.... but its still worth the price even if its never used again. its very sturdy and it stays in place. my fathers bedframe is a minimal steel frame, so it has bars i was able to attach the strap to, not sure how this would install on a frame that is solid (like ones that have no underneath, with drawers for storage). the handles are easy to grip and hold onto, and again even if its only used a few times.....its worth it. id have never been able to get my father comfortable without this thing.

Life-changing mobility aid
I bought this for my 90 year old grandpa. He's had some medical problems and surgeries that have weakened his core muscles. The way he was getting out of bed looked pretty unsafe--wrenching his upper body around to push up on his nightstand, often falling back and having to try again. His shoulder and arm muscles are still strong, and that's an important thing to keep in mind for using this product. I looked at bedside walker models but those are meant to go under a box spring and grandpa's bed is just a mattress on a slat foundation. So I decided to try this one and not only is it a lot cheaper, but it works really well. Installation was super easy on grandpa's metal bed frame, if you have a bed with a footboard, it might be harder to get it clipped in. Since it's a twin bed, I stuck an adhesive hook to the side of the bedframe and hung the rope ladder within Grandpa's reach--that way it's not taking up room in his bed. Grandpa's review is that it is "life-changing." Getting out of bed is easier and less painful.

A Parkinson's game changer!
I have had young onset Parkinson's disease for almost 15 years now. This bed caddy was so amazing and such a huge help. It is been a game changer and one of the best pieces of equipment that I have purchased to help me be more independent. Before I was having to wake my husband up and ask him to help me sit up in the bed when I had to go to the bathroom and having Bradykinesia and dystonia symptoms of Parkinson's. I highly recommend it. I installed it myself It was so easy. Actually received this as a Christmas present from my 19-year-old daughter. It was the best present I got this year.

Not useful for folks with limited upper body strength
I ordered this Caddie after hubby began working with a physical therapist again. I thought it would be a better option than a rail on the right side of the bed -- that would have impeded his getting to a sitting position with the help of a caregiver or myself. The Caddie attaches easily to the bedframe -- it took me only a minute or two. I would strongly suggest that you do NOT attach it to any other part of the bed other than the iron or metal frame. Like another reviewer, we have adjustable beds with metal parts that move along with the bed -- but they're removable and that's NOT going to be stable enough to support the full weight of someone struggling to sit upright and swing their legs around to the side of the bed. If you're going to have a decent shot of success with this product, you need to be safe about installing it first! This item is a great concept but if you have limited or impaired upper body strength you're not going to be able to use it properly. So for us, this now falls into the "been there, done that" category. It's still attached to our bed frame (just in case...) but hubby can't really use it. Maybe with some more strength/endurance work with the physical therapist... I wish I had thought about the strength issue before clicking the Order button -- it would have been nice if there had been some guidance regards that (now) obvious requirement in the item description.

Well built, sturdy, adjustable, good value for the job. RECOMMENDED
A prayer answered. I have a King size bed that is higher than normal off the floor. This worked well when set-up originally. But recently I am no longer fully ambulatory. In order for me to get into the bed I have to climb in on my knees like a toddler. Ok, I deal with it. But sometimes I can't get in far enough before I turn to sit. This "rope" ladder support is great. It is anchored around the middle support leg of the bed and adjusted to come across the bed to where it is convenient to reach, but still has enough space that I can pull myself forward physically. It is well made and sturdy. The base is made of strapping and connected with pliable strong rubber, easily gripped and does not slip out of your hand. When I say sturdy, you need to know that I am 6'2" and weigh more than Yogi, Boo-Boo, the Rangers and a full picnic basket all together. So, when I grab the handle and pull myself up and over on the bed, it is being tested to the furthest reaches of product testing. It has passed with flying colors and shows no sign of wear or stress. I recommend this support ladder for the uses I have outlined. Just as an afterthought, I could see me steadying myself with the ladder while trying to get out of the window, in case of emergency. My choice, not a recommendation.

Great idea but!
Great idea but a senior is not able to pull up a mattress and hook this to a underneath rail.Imposable for me.
