Q: Does it have adjustable height for thick carpets?

There’s a sliding adjuster on the front that ranges from thick pile to hard floors... hope that helps :)

Q: Are there any non removable filters in it? eg piece of foam in it ?

Yes, at the top, rinse it and wash in a bag in the machine (40 deg max), dry well and can be used several times.

Q: Does it leave hoover lines?

This i think would depend on your carpet. I have not had a problem. There are two settings depending on which type of surface you are using it on. Personally this hoover was one of my best buys ever

Q: Does anyone know if you can release the pipe from the purple loop so you can use it properly

You can attach the pipe as other users have said. I found easier to use when I unscrewed and removed the purple loop altogether.
