Improved my soldering
Great little jig. I had been really struggling with getting successful soldered joints on XT90 connectors. The XT90 and XT60 had highlighted my poor soldering skills. I was using my Panavise to hold the connectors, but was overheating the connector pins and even having the pins move or completely drop out of the connector. This little jig has help tremendously as it holds the connector and appears to distribute the heat. I still had the problem of the jig sliding around on my workbench, so I made a extra jig to hold the ShareGoo jig. It's just a couple of pieces of 3/4" plywood, with a couple of dowels, but it allows me to clamp my jig to the workbench and the soldering jig stays rock solid. My soldering skills probably still suck, but I am now getting perfect soldered joints every time. I hope the photos help.

Easy to use!
This tool works perfectly! Holds many different types of connectors so you don’t have to. Allows much easier solder jobs.

Handy to have!
Much easier than "helping hands" to hold connectors while soldering.

Not really Impressed
The shipping and packaging were fine. The concept is a good one but rather lacking. The materials, weight, machining and finish are pretty good (CNC, anodized aluminum). The jig is not bad for insulated fittings like an XT60. There is however, one improvement I'd like to see. Redesign the jig so that you can clamp-in sacrificial insulated plugs (M&F) from the underside of the jig such that you simply plug your connector in from the top side for soldering. Allowing for some heat dissipation through the sacrificial and is therefore less likely to deform the insulator while soldering. Especially for the larger XT90s.Regarding the black area of the jig with the various hole diameters for fittings like banana/bullet connectors. This is also made of metal and despite the claim that "Thermal Insulating Layer: Black thermal insulating layer surrounded by the holes, which can effectively prevent heat propagation." this is an issue too. It's metal and metal loves to suck heat so if you put your fitting into a snug fitting hole then try to solder, your odds of a cold solder joint are huge. You need to find a slightly larger diameter hole (so that only a couple points of the fitting are contacting the jig, not snug) but that ultimately defeats the purpose of the jig...to hold the fitting snug. Helping hands are better. This black area of the jig is modular though and can be removed by releasing the two screws. I'm tempted to remove them and replace with a nice piece of hardwood with custom holes. However, the manufacturer might consider making this insert out of silicone. Then you could get a nice snug hole fit on a nice, clean, solderable surface. Not sure why the hole diameter sizes are printed upside down on one side of the jig but what-ever. They are useless unless you are curious about the size of something.Ya, I gotta mod just about anything I can. This thing actually makes for a more stable base than my mini helping hands base does.Overall, it's ok but could be great.
