probably not totally waterproof BUT mine has been working well outside for 18 months without fault. I chose to mount it with some protection from the elements and put it underneath the windowsill of the garage window. It is not a lot of protection but for the money, I thought it a fair risk. I am very pleased with this. Worth a little extra effort to set up.

Does this sensor work in lit conditions, or just in the dark?

Ap to You Dude. If You open it, its very easy to adjust it by small Philips screw driver.
