Had both a shower drain and a clogged bathroom sink. It worked best in the shower drain with just one packet. The sink took two treatments over 2 separate days.The stuff definitely works at unclogging bathrooms drains, but didn't notice any change in smells. Everything was just neutral in terms of smell.The main thing I learned the hard way is prep + very high water temp. First, don't use this right after a taking shower. Wait at least a couple hours so the drain area is dry. Second when they mean hot water, it better be hot. Not small bubbles coming up to the surface boiling hot, but instead, surface of the water completely churning and boiling hot.Once I figured this out by trial and error, it worked every time.And yes. I left it for 12 (overnight) hours and that worked best.

This product just resolved a super clogged double sink vanity. Just when we were going to move to outdoor plumbing (2 plumbers stood us up) I purchased this product. The performance was out of this world. The sink was unclogged after 2 treatments and I literally heard the pipes opening up as God knows what was released from them. I then took the product to my free standing bathtub that has had a slow drain for over a year (we stopped taking baths for months). After two treatments and some really gross smells we are in business. I took a bath this morning and it was EVERYTHING!Thank you for allowing me to comfortably use my bathroom again…I feel my quality of life soaring! Talk about an incredible value-products that ACTUALLY work!

Some very important caveats:1. This is best used on a pipe that drains but just doesn't drain WELL. Clogged pipes need other options for reasons described below.2. VERY hot water is a necessity. Cool or cold or moderate water is a waste of time. So if you have a drain that's fully clogged and there's lots of water, do everything you can to soak up or clear that water before you proceed. Maybe buy a hand pump to suck out the excess water.3. Ignore anything that isn't the instructions for "severe clogs" instructions and follow them exactly as stated. This means two packets, boiling water, and leave it alone for at least 24 hours.All that said, This product very clearly and obviously works. You can test it with just a little bit of material and some water. It's highly acidic and caustic. There's no question in my mind that it will break down hair clogs and other organic junk in your drain.That said, if you have things that are in your pipes that aren't organic, it's not going to do anything. You'll still have to call a plumber. But given that this is maybe 2% the price of hiring a professional, it's hard to skip this step.Other notes:- No issues using this on older pipes, one of the reasons I tried it vs. Draino.- I have not tested this as a drain maintenance option.

For context, my place was built in the 1930s with the last major construction update done in the 1960s. Needless to say, the plumbing is old. I've been using the big-name gels & and liquids on a monthly basis. They never really work and just prevent standing water in the sink & shower. I figured I'd try this. BEST STUFF EVER. I followed the directions. I used a kettle to get hot/boiling water. The sink & shower drain normally now. Even after a month, it hasn't clogged back up. I used this in the kitchen sink too and it cleared out a faint smell that I hadn't been able to get rid of.

Firstly, these came in little packets, which is great because it spares you the hassle of having to measure out portions from a gallon.It was very easy to use because the powder pours out easily.It works very well at clearing out the drain in my tub as long as you use hot water like you're supposed to.Its packaging is also easy to store and does not take up a lot of space at all.I would definitely recommend this!

You have to use boiling water which wasn't clear.

One of the previous reviewers said to make sure the water you add after dumping the powder down the drain has been brought to a ROLLING BOIL. I think that's the secret to getting excellent results. The bathroom sink drain which hadn't been free-flowing since I moved into my apartment 4 years ago, now drains completely in a snap. As a test, I filled the treated sink to the brim (up to the overflow drainage hole) with cold water...and then timed how long before all the water had disappeared down the train. That may not sound fast...but try your own sink and see how long it takes. I'm very happy with this product and recommend it!

Recently had clog in bathroom shower. Tried using product 6 different times. Did not work at all. Tried it in kitchen sink that was backing up. Did not work at all. No, I'm not on septic tank , but on city sewer. Removed elbows and connecting drain pipes and cleaned these thoroughly and replaced. Tried product again and it failed again. I have seen crystals react with hot water but it did no good. This product proved totally worthless to me. Back to Stronger and more reliable drain cleaners.
