It's a great dock
I don't really need a USB4 dock. I have USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports. I don't do heavy gaming or large file transfers to external drives. My displays are wide screen so the resolution is 3440x1440 instead of 4k. So why did I get this dock?I own several other devices from Cable Matters. I have a USB-C KVM so that I can switch from my work computer to my personal computer. I have a USB A to HDMI adapter so that my Mac (for work) can run 3 separate screens. I have their cables. Finally, I have some of their older docks that I use around the house for docking my Steam Deck or a laptop to each of my TVs. Cable Matters has always been super responsive and helpful when I've contacted them. So when I went searching I immediately looked at their products. They're coming in at half the price of competitors for the same specs and better support. It does what I need with my current setup and I have enough faith in them that when I upgrade my laptop in a few years it will still be working. Setup was easy, I get full resolution on both monitors, all my peripherals work with it, and it's not causing me to have to reboot like the cheaper (and much slower) no-name dock I was temporarily using with this setup. It's running as fast as my laptop will let it run and I couldn't be happier with it.

Works with DP-ALT over USB-C, provides a single cable interface for my laptop.
I would recommend. Provides a single cable interface for my laptop with USB 3.2, Ethernet, and DP-ALT 1.4a over USB-C. It is the bridge between my laptop and KVM and it works exactly as I expect it. I don't use it for thunderbolt or USB4. It works great for my purposes.

Better features than docking stations twice its price
For the price this is a pretty incredible package. Even including a wall jack usb-c charger, you save money over getting say, a wavlink ugpdxyz, and on top of that you get at least 160hz out of both displayports according to my testing. I haven’t seen any downsides with this thing yet at all

No DDC Support—A Dealbreaker
Misleading DDC Support—Great Hub, but Lacks Essential FeatureCable Matters claimed DDC support, but it’s not there. I confirmed with them before purchasing, only to be let down. The single USB-C connection for DisplayPort, Ethernet, USB-A, and power is great, but without DDC/CI for external monitors, it's a big disappointment. I can no longer control my monitor's brightness from my MBP.Suggestion: A version with only one DisplayPort that fully supports DDC would be ideal for MacBook users. Many of us only need one DP port, and DDC works better that way.

Will be great if you have a *very* new computer and don't want to be tied to wall power
If it works (see below) this would be the perfect travel dock- No external power required (can use your laptop adapter or be powered from the laptop itself).- Has a network port and built-in upstream cordHowever, the big down-side is that this only supports USB-4. There is no fall-back to Thunderbolt 3 for even slightly older computers, they go all the way to USB-3 DP-Alt Mode which has very limited display bandwidth and is barely better than a passive USB-C to Display Port adapter. If you have a newer computer and prioritize portability this could still work for you. Otherwise I would suggest a Thunderbolt 4 Hub type dock and some passive adapters as it will work with a much wider variety of computers for a similar price.

Best USB4 hub on the market
I think this is currently the best unpowered USB4 hub on the market at the moment (October 12, 2023). It's cheap, compact, supports 4K 240Hz over DisplayPort 1.4, gigabit ethernet, and has three 10Gbps USB ports! My only gripe is that the built-in cable isn't detachable, preventing use of this hub with some USB-C switches that require a female port on the hub.

Only supported integrated graphics at 1080p 120Hz, did not work with GPU
Seeing the specs and reviews, I had very high hopes for this dock. Unfortunately, some of its best features did not work as intended.I have an Alienware m15 r7 with an RTX 3070 Ti GPU and a ASUS ROG 27 inch, 1080p, 165Hz G-Sync compatible monitor. The monitor is connected to the dock via a DisplayPort 1.4 cable, and the dock is plugged into the laptop's Thunderbolt 4 port.Despite being connected to the Thunderbolt 4 port where the laptop's GPU is, the monitor is only able to connect to the laptop's Intel Graphics at 120 Hz with no variable refresh rate. After troubleshooting with Cable Matters, and doing research online, we came to the conclusion that the dock has compatibility issues preventing it from connecting to the GPU.I can confirm it is an issue with the dock, because when I connect my monitor to my laptop directly via a DisplayPort to USB-C cable, it connects to the GPU and outputs 165 Hz at 1080p with variable refresh rate.If 1080p 120Hz is good enough for you, this is a decent dock with a good selection of ports and the 100W pass-through also works well. If you have a gaming laptop and are looking to get the most out of your GPU, you may run into compatibility issues like I did.
