Best grinder!
My husband and I have always loved coffee and wanted to dive into pour overs and other brewing methods outside of your typical drip coffee machine. We have a regular blade grinder that we thought was great before we cared about how our coffee came out. After doing a lot of research, this was one of the top recommend hand burr grinders based on our wants/needs. Maybe it’s the whole process, but the coffee came out amazing and you can really taste the flavors of the beans this way. This grinder is very easy to use and doesn’t take long to grind at all. It definitely takes some calibration at the start and every now and then sheer cleaning. It comes with a nice bag that makes it portable and you can use it wherever because it is very quiet. We plan to take it with us whenever we go camping. It might seem expensive, but it is great quality and worth every cent.

High Quality, Easy To Maintain
You can use this grinder for just about any kind of coffee purpose. Granted, you’re gonna need extra muscles if you’re gonna use it for a light roast espresso, but I don’t see this as a problem with courser grinds. I primarily use it with dark and medium roasts for espresso and find it super easy to use, clean, and dial in the perfect grind size for my espresso. It has also done a wonderful job with Aeropress and filter coffee for me.I do find their instruction manual a little lacking on clarity for calibrating the grinder (meaning setting the grinder on a perfect zero setting), but you can easily get around this by watching a few YouTube specific videos on this model. Calibration is super easy once you understand the process.

A very impressive big well made hand grinder
Like this one, my third hand grinder. Like the magnetic cup, the exterior grind number setting scale, the size of the magnetic cup (will hold 40 grams, usually do 34 grams for two big cups.....the top of the grinder only holds about 28 grams at one time), & the folding handle. It took me 3 different You tube videos before I could properly Calibrate the number scale for grinding, but I eventually got. Use a setting of #9 for fairly Coarse Pour Over Hario Switch V60 coffee making. A Consistent grind in daily use. Heavy, sturdy construction....and its bigger than it looks on line. Impressive

Game Changer for my Filtered Cups
This is the best and most versatile grinder I own.A huge step up from my Breville grinder in every sense. It’s more suited for my taste compared to my DF64 v2 for filtered cups, although I still prefer the former for espresso.Very comfortable to use and the grinding is surprisingly effortless and fast, even for espresso. My only issue is that the bottom compartment can sometimes get loose or fall, when I hold it too low (I have quite big hands though).Easy to clean and disassemble for calibration or maintenance. The included parts are great for these purposes as well, no need to get new cleaning tools for the moment.I’ve been using it for about 6 months and couldn’t be happier. I originally got it for brewing at work, but I like it so much that I carry it everywhere, so the case is especially appreciated.10/10 would recommend for anyone looking to level up their coffee for all methods, especially regarding cup clarity and fruity/nutty aromas. Excellent all-rounder and very versatile.

K-Ultra rocks! External adjustment FTW
This grinder flat out rocks. I’ve only had it for a day or 2 and I’ve used it for both espresso and pour over. It worked great for dialing in my espresso (the small adjustments make this super easy) and worked really well in creating evenly sized grounds for my coarser pour over grind. Another huge plus is the metal construction of the main body, it feels super solid in hand and just feels like it’s going last a lifetime. My favorite feature of this grinder, by far, is the external adjustment of your grind size. No more removing the catch cup to my any grind changes. This saves me from making a mess and it makes switching from fine for espresso to coarse for pour over super easy. Bonus points for the storage case and accessories, super convenient and it will be perfect for taking this grinder on camping trips. And the texturing on the body gives you a great grip on it. I was Leary of the magnets holding on the catch cup, but after some testing I’ve determined that there is little to no chance of you accidentally bumping it and knocking the catch cup off causing a huge mess. It’s def a little pricey, but it’s every bit as good as the Commandante without costing an arm and a leg. Very impressed with 1zpresso, these guys rock!

Is it better than cheaper hand grinders?
This is my second grinder to replace my cheap grinder, the HEIHOX, which uses common burr found in many grinders like Timemore C2. The quality and ease of setting the grind level is the best as mentioned by other reviews so will focus my review on taste and if it's worth the upgrade.I have done tests between the two grinders using Aeropress and the results led me to conclude it all comes down to what you like. The cheap grinder gives sweeter and fuller body but less clarity, meaning no separation of various taste notes. K-Max tend to produce lighter body but more clarity because you can taste all the various flavors such as fruity and floral notes in fresh Ethiopian. If you like Ethiopian, then K-Max is great. I like having both grinders to be able to change things up but I enjoy both. Some have said it's easy to clean and calibrate. I'm very technical person and I can tell you it's not that simple. You need to read and follow directions precisely. I ended up locking it and had to send it to 1zpresso to unlock it. At first they weren't going to cover the cost but did so after I showed them that following their instructions caused it. They agreed and they updated their instructions since after they asked me to review it. I have to say they did a great job supporting their product and they're very friendly to work with, which you won't get with cheap grinders. Is the K-Max worth it? Definitely! Its smooth and fast operation is the best so grinding experience is more enjoyable. It's preferred for high end coffees because it is able to better extract flavor nuances from the beans while giving pleasant grinding experience.
