This will not fit a standard shower drain

I got this to try and keep drain odors down to a minimum in my shower. It "fits" the pipe, but more sits on top of it vs feeling secure in it. I don't think the rubber gasket has the needed stiffness to get a good seal. Water does flow through it, but some water does sit on top of the trap door mechanism if the weight isnt enough to open it. Its not bad enough for me to throw away, but not good enough for me to buy again.

The rubber seal on this item doesn't fit properly and prevents the plug from being fully and securely inserted into the drain. I've tried pushing on it and twisting while pushing all to no avail. Nice idea but the fitment leaves much to be desired.
