Yes you could use them for keeping a door open provided the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor is less than 7.5 mm.

As the recesses vary slightly knocked them in until they were tight and then removed the excess with a sharp wood chisel.Alternatively push them in by hand and mark eat panel level remove and saw off between 5 and 10mm above the marked line then gently hammer home.
