This is a very useful addition to Dewalt oscillating tools. I purchased it for use with the Dewalt 20V Atomic oscillating tool (which is fantastic). I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that to use this, you have to buy the knob that holds the guide arm in place, the guide arm, and the block that attaches the assembly to the tool separately. This ends up costing about $30. They should be available as a set, and in my opinion the price should be a bit lower. Another reason for the lower rating is that like many other reviewers have pointed out, the entire assembly really ought to be included with the tool. As far as using the assembly, it is very helpful for controlling the depth of your cuts. An example of this is being able to make cutouts in drywall without having to worry to much about cutting into wiring/plumbing/etc. that might be lurking behind the wall. The only issue that I have run into with the operation of this setup is that the vibrations definitely make the two screws vibrate loose, which is a bit irritating. I may try putting a dab of blue Loctite on the screws to see if that helps. Overall, I would buy this again, but it could be improved a tad, and should be included with the oscillating tool, or at least offered as a package that includes all 3 parts.

In a world full of inferior knobs this has to be the best one I have ever had the pleasure of knobbing.

Understand that this is just one piece of three need. This piece is useless without the other three. Why do they do this??? Probably just to make more money(?). I don’t know. Once you get all three pieces - it works well. Just understand what you are getting.

The guide is useful for limiting how far a tool can travel on a job but the things outrage me are Dewalt:1. Dewalt didn't include this with their tools2. This should have been sold as a kit.If you plan on using this a DCS355B Oscillating Tool, you need 3 parts:1. N278801 Knob ($3.39)2. N275350 Block Assembly ($9.15)3. N275341 Depth Guide ($6.90)So while the tool might seem cheap, it really is only one part and after adding up all the parts you need, it's not all that cheap
