IT WORKS!
UPDATE 08/02/2024 I am now up to 467 blocked calls. Thank goodness for this device. It works.UPDATE 06/27/2024 - Three days of use and I am now up to 54 spam calls. All are now blocked automatically. So glad I purchased this device. I have found it easy to block calls by numbers and and name. When I push the button to block the call, the "Successful" message pops up on the display, letting me know I have done it correctly. I did have a few calls there were not labeled by my caller id and I was able to manually block them. It is so satisfying hear one ring and know the call is being blocked. Definitely recommend this device. Wish there was one of these for cell phones.Original Review - Call blocker was delivered around 1:30 PM. Easy to set, just plug it in to the landline and phone. By 4:30 I received 4 "Suspected Spam" calls. I pressed the "Block By Name" button for the first one, and this little machine took care of the rest. Calls number 2, 3, and 4 were automatically were blocked. My phone rang once to alert me. It is amazing to say the least. I have been receiving10, 15, 20, 30 calls a day from "Suspected Spam" and "Unavailable". Can't wait till I receive the next "Unavailable" call and I all I have to do is press the "Block by Name" button. I will still get spoofed calls since those are computer generated by the bad guys, but my spam/fraudulent calls will be reduced by 70%. So far I am delighted with this purchase. Here's hoping it is durable and keeps working for a long time. I recommend it. It is working when nothing else I did worked. Will update if anything changes.

Great product actually works
Don't buy this product. Let me clarify what I mean. Yes this works you put it on family mode only the people on your family list will be able to reach you you put it on block mode and it will block certain spam callers that were already pre-programmed in there but that will still allow scam callers and telemarketers to call your phone that are not programmed into that device. So it works really well. I had it set to family list on our phone the main line and it has been quiet except for the people approved on that scam call blocker for the family list. Now my family is saying that the device is acting up and stopping certain people from calling from the family list. They would rather let the phone ring 30 times a day from telemarketers and scam callers and answer them to tell them to screw off then let this device do its job. When I say don't buy this product I mean because your family may not appreciate this device and it actually stopping these calls from going through. My elderly parents are complaining that certain people on the approve list still aren't being allowed to call and yet those elderly people have cell phones and they have been told to call their cell phones. So instead my family decided to unplug the device or switch it to block mode and let the calls come through regardless and rather answer these phone calls and get frustrated 30 times a day because they're going to come through. If you're looking for something that's going to stop the calls and block them get it it's a good product. Me personally my family just makes me think that this is a waste of a device because they can't appreciate the silence we've had in the house since June of 2024. A little bit of a side note even on family mode telemarketers may call your phone they will not be allowed to be run in but they may still be able to try and leave a voicemail but that's about as far as they get. I'm going to miss the Silence of not having the phone ring 30 times a day because of telemarketers and scam callers.

A Fairly, Almost, Pretty Good Call Blocker
A (relatively) straightforward call blocker. Simple to set up, simple to use. And a good thing, because the instructions included are rather...simple. For example, to actually use it, just hook up the telephone line (from the wall) to the LINE port in the back of the unit. Hook up the telephone via a phone cable to the TEL port. That's it. Done. No batteries, no switches (well, one - later), no power connector, no buttons to configure. Just connect two 6P4C RJ11 phone cables. So that's all good, right? Right - depending on what you want from a call blocker. If you basically want a call blocker that blocks most/many/some spam calls with little intervention from you, without providing a lot of information, this may be it. If you want a blocker that is somewhat configurable, maybe, perhaps, almost yes. If you want a blocker that is completely configurable and tells you what it's doing, not so much. The good:1. Dead easy setup, as noted. If you can plug in phone cables, you're there.2. Uses little energy - it runs off the 48v phone line.3. Has a pre-loaded database of spam numbers.4. Blocks a variety of numbers associated with spam calls by default - international numbers, Out of Area numbers, Private numbers, numbers without Caller ID. And you can turn these options on or off.5. Block by name or number - a very useful feature6. Area code blocking - again very useful7. A "FAMILY LIST" mode that will block all calls/numbers not on this list, useful for after-hours or just for peace and quiet.8. The ability to block calls remotely from a connected phone by pressing #, 6.9. Blocks the first ring on the majority of phones and systems (about 95% of them), and this feature can be turned off for the 5% of systems that require a first ring.10. Works with in-line fax and answering machines.11. You can manually add numbers to any of the lists using the phone.12. Retains settings during a power loss.13. You can delete blocked or saved numbers/names individually from the device with a dedicated DELETE button. The not so good:1. No backlit screen - LCD only. And no way to adjust the contrast, although letters/numbers are large-ish and in caps (also not configurable). Easy to read with direct overhead lighting, not so much in a dimmer office environment, and not readable at all from a short distance because the device essentially sits flat on your desk (and nothing on the back to wall-mount it).2. Very apparently not initially for the US market - first language in the instructions is clearly not from English-speakers, and 24h (military) time only on the display.3. Some actions (like add to FAMILY LIST) must be done on the device itself, and only after connecting the call, i.e. answering it or placing it. You can block from an attached remote phone see #8 above), but you still need to connect the call for it to work.4. The display only shows the first 10 characters of a caller name, last name first on the CALL LIST screen. If it's a longer last name, you'll never know by looking at the screen if it's Mary Hitchcock, Mike Hitchcock or Murray Hitchcock. The main screen by default only displays the total number of calls blocked since the device was connected - not which numbers or which names - and the total number of names/numbers on all the block lists combined, NAME and NUMBER, and there's no indication or alert on the device itself that you have received any new call(s). Academic, but not very useful information.5. There is no indication on a displayed number in the NUMBER LIST (blocked numbers) or the FAMILY LIST (whitelist numbers not blocked) who the number is associated with. It just shows up as an un-hyphenated phone number and no name. So you'll have to remember if 1234567890, is associated with your bookie, your Gramma or your neurosurgeon, in case you forgot who you added to the list (or wish to delete). There is also no number associated with the name on the NAME LIST - only a name - so if you blocked GRAMMA you'll have to guess what her number was in case you want to call her back and apologize.6. Additionally, unlike the CALL LIST which is arranged by call date/time, the other lists are numerically ordered, treating the phone number as a mathematical number: 1,234,567,890 - not 123-456-7890 - and it will show up sorted ahead of 1,234,567,891 even if that was a more recent call. So you have no idea if a particular number was entered or blocked today or last year.7. There is (literally) no information about the capacity of the device to store numbers in the included instructions. On the Amazon site, it describes 4,096 numbers that can be added to the NUMBER LIST to block or otherwise categorize, 256 names can be added to the NAME LIST, and 32 "latest call" numbers are stored. None of this is confirmed in the instructions themselves, and the heart of the device - the pre-loaded "spam" numbers database - has no information anywhere. The ads just say "a large number." How large would that be? Fifty? A hundred? Ten thousand? Doesn't say. It also doesn't say when the list was created (and it's not editable or updated, or even viewable) - 1990? 2000? Yesterday? Because it will eventually go out of date as spammers add more numbers, and the user is left to personally block any new numbers - after they call. And the NUMBER LIST is actually reduced by 3 - because the device arrives with 3 numbers already on the list (actually not exactly numbers), and apparently the entries occupy space: "UNAVAILABLE," "INTERNATIONAL," and "WHITHHELD." These are default "on" settings for blocking International, Out of Area, or Private/Withheld numbers, but this is unclear without reading through the instructions thoroughly.8. The "FAMILY LIST" mode previously mentioned allows the device to only permit numbers on that list to ring through - all others will be blocked. The problem is that it's a physical switch on the device, that you have to manually select each time you want to use it. And if you accidentally leave it on all numbers except those on the list will be blocked. And visually, you can't tell from a distance which mode the device is on.9. As above, you can delete entries, but only individually. If you decide at some point you would like to reset the device to zero, you'll need to delete numbers/names - One. At. A. Time. If you have the maximum 4,000 plus stored, best pack a lunch. So final thoughts. This is probably one of the easiest to set up call blockers for an in-home landline. It needs nothing except for the user to connect it and it works. It is - somewhat - configurable, and allows some flexibility on the type of calls blocked. It has a rudimentary "after hours" blocking feature that requires manual switching, but it works. The primary weaknesses of the device are the readability and information displayed by the screen, which admittedly may or may not be important as the device is really a "set and forget" device, but more importantly the effectiveness of the built-in database of spam numbers, which may or may not be effective at blocking the majority of spam callers. Time will tell. As-is, recommended for home users that don't need or want a more configurable - but likely more complicated - landline call blocker, and who don't mind manually blocking unwanted calls as they come in - at least the first time.
