Worked straight out of the box with a 3rd-party Cisco compatible SFP
In trying to retire a Cisco 2960G I needed to move a 1G fibre SFP over to a 'newer' 3570 but all it's SFP ports are occupied. I was hoping to find a PoE-powered media converter but the only one I could find had terrible reviews (a niche for someone?) so I opted for this one which came with an LC SFP. I had already configured a trunk on one of the 3570's interfaces, so I plugged it in, connected power and plugged in the existing SFP (from the 2960) and LC multimode cable and, boom, it worked! It was instant and immediate, wasn't expecting that as past history with finding compatible SFPs for getting different bit of equipment talking to each other has been less than smooth! Kept the SFP that came with this in case I need it at a later date but very impressed. I've purchased a TP-Link PoE splitter that can provide the 5v this media converter requires so I don't have to have a UK mains socket in the rack with this device. Part of the work was to also get rid of all UK mains sockets and use IEC C14 power strips exclusively so this defeated that concept somewhat... Just in case anyone else wants to do this, the supplied cable on the TP-Link PoE splitter is a 5.5mm/2.1mm (Ext/Int) on each end. The plug that comes with the Media Converter is 5.5mm/2.5mm so you'll need the following to adapt it for use: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005KCGM96/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 That last bit is coming and I'll update if it doesn't work. Was hoping to find a dedicated cable with a 2.1mm plug on one end and a 2.5mm plug on the other but no immediate joy...

Good quality product and easy to use
Good quality and prefect for the job at hand, testing fibre connectivity between buildings

Simple solution that just works.
Reasonably cheap, does what it claims. No fuss, just does it. Used to convert a spare pair on a fibre bundle, to the control network for the PDU.

Worked out of the box
Plugged this in, and it worked perfectly, talking over a 10.5km link to a device from a different manufacturer. Would buy again, especially at this price.
