So far so good
Just got this today and electric toothbrushes have really come a long way. This review will be mostly for people who are new to electric toothbrushes or looking to upgrade an old one. This review is for the 4100 series.Comparison:I moved from a manual, to a Quip electric. The quip doesn't actually vibrate hard enough to affect cleaning, but it does have a 2-minute timer and a really good quadrant minder which tells you when to switch to the next part of your mouth. Quip is kind of neat for encouraging you to brush more, but the quadrant minder is the only real plus.Pros:Deep cleaning. You actually need to read the instructions and change how you brush with an electric. The brush itself is making thousands of strokes per second, so your old scrubbing motion actually hurts the effect of this brush. In short: Use light pressure to make sure the brush deforms a little and pushes against your gum, and sweep back and forth more slowly to let the brush work. When you're done, you'll feel dentist-clean.Bust budget option. The 4100 is the first toothbrush in the Philips line that has all the "regular" body with all the important cleaning features (clip-on heads, quadrant minder, replacement reminder). This means it's the best bang for your buck. The next model up only includes a travel case and 3 different brush modes, which you don't really need. The one mode on this brush is the only one you need, and when you travel the brush head actually comes with a travel cap - take off the brush head, cap it, and put both safely in your bag. Done.Charge base. The new bases are omnidirectional and magnetic. It doesn't matter how you put the brush down, it charges correctly and stays put. It even buzzes and lights up to confirm a charge. Great.Gentle introductory mode. The manual says your first 14 brushings will be on a gentle mode to ease you into using the brush. This is great. Even on intro mode, the brush already outperforms any manual. It'll be great to finally ramp it up.All the features. If you press too hard on your teeth, it stop the brush from making all its pulses. The handle will vibrate differently to tell you to fix your pressure. There is a replacement light which both verifies your tip is on, and reminds you when it needs changing. There are also some options available via certain button presses, which you can read about in the manual. Overall this has all the features I'd want in an electric. I'm not even concerned with the higher-end models for my needs.Cons:Weak quadrant minder. It's really hard to tell when the quadrant minder hits because it's literally about one tenth of a second of a different vibration. This is a little too fast to interpret, as the brush also has a momentary buzz if you apply too much pressure. Which is which? The Quip actually does a stop-start cycle a few times more akin to your cell phone, which is way easier to recognize. Philips could improve this a lot, but at least it works.Overall:If you can afford a better brush, the 4100 is the best bang-for-buck in the Philips line. It's basically the exact same body as the most expensive in the line. All you sacrifice is that you only get one cleaning mode (you only need one), you don't get a travel case, and Philips makes a different head for this brush than it does for other models. Otherwise it's a perfect, dentist-recommended clean. I love it.

Ideal electric toothbrush
Well-built and comfortable to use. The brush system is convent and easy to change out. The reminder is a nice touch. The charging works well and the battery lasts plenty long. I’ve taken it abroad for over a week with full confidence, even after having this brush for several years. Everything you need.

Amazing toothbrush worth every penny
This toothbrush is a game-changer for oral hygiene! It cleans far better than any manual toothbrush I’ve used, leaving my teeth feeling incredibly smooth and fresh after each use. The built-in pressure sensor and timer are great features that help ensure proper brushing technique and time. The battery life is excellent, lasting several weeks on a single charge, which is super convenient. It’s comfortable to hold and easy to use, making it perfect for everyday use. Just be sure to stock up on extra replacement heads, as you’ll definitely want to keep using this amazing toothbrush. Well worth the price!

Good
Works as expected and advertised. The battery is pretty long and I appreciate the 30 second reminders to help you move to each section of your mouth. I bought bamboo replacement heads that work perfectly.Tip: If you get messy while brushing your teeth and you get fluids that drip down to where the brush head meets the handle, you should take the head off and rinse/disinfect it, letting it dry completely before you put it back on. Also wipe the handle down with alcohol or clean with soap. If you don't, it'll smell weird and that's the last thing you want to have right up by your nose.

You don't need the expensive models. This one is just as good!
::UPDATE TO THE ORIGINAL REVIEW::So earlier this week, 12/11/2022, my old one died so I bought another one. Model 4100. This one comes with two intensity levels although I only use the higher one. The handle is a little slimmer and feels lighter and easier to hold.Unfortunately, it looks like Philips has started down the path of shrinkflation. The new one no longer comes with a charger, just a USB cable. My old charger might work but since I'm getting a brand new brush, I'd like a new charger too since the old one is all gunked up. Anyway, according to Philips they are no longer including chargers with these in an effort to save the planet or the ecosystem or whatever. They provide the charging base and a USB cable but no way to actually plug the thing into the wall. Sounds to me like nothing more than a way to increase their profit margins by providing less for the same amount of money. But, if you contact them and request a charger they will send you one so at least there's that.Anyway, I like the ergonomics of the new one better than the old one so I continue to be happy with the Sonicare. They should reconsider their "save the planet by not providing a way to charge the brush" strategy though.ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOWI bought this to replace my old Sonicare that stopped charging after about 2 years. The old one that died was one of the expensive models with all the different brushing modes and a travel case that doubles as a charger. It was nice but I only used one brushing mode. When that one died I checked Amazon to see what the current models were. I found this one, the cheap one, and decided that the more expensive ones were a waste for my needs.First thing I did was turn off the EasyStart mode. I then found that the vibration actually seems a little stronger than my older one.Bottom line, all I need is one mode, which happens to be the most effective mode, and this one works perfectly. I am not noticing any functional difference between this one and the more expensive one. The brush heads are the same. No, it doesn't come with a fancy travel case/charger but the regular charger is easy enough to stick in any travel bag.I recommend this one over the more expensive models. Its one brushing mode is the most effective one so there's no reason to pay 2 or 3 times as much for additional brushing modes unless you really need them.
