Nice looking but a delicate finish
Decent value for the money. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the product for the money. I was hoping for something without a visible seam on edge. This has one, but it's not that noticeable. The major fault with mine is the delicate finish. The stain seems to have penetrated the wood, but the outside coating is very delicate. I was pretty careful during the installation, but the finish still seemed to flake off in some areas.

WOW what a looker
Ease of installation, fit and value for the money is great. The shelf mantel is a quaility product. The color is an esspresso type and really sets off our stacked stone fireplace wall nicely. I would highly recommend this mantel

***READ BEFORE BUYING**** INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
We received this mantle and were very excited to put it up, it looked absolutely beautiful, it did have the brand lasered into the wood on the bottom of the mantle, which I wasn't thrilled about, but whatever. Then it came time for the installation instructions, they seemed easy enough to follow, but once we actually got down into the details, they were completely awful. First of all, the instruction manual comes in a booklet of like 20 pages, however, the actual instructions were only one page, the rest was a catalog for Avana products. We needed to use the drywall anchors, but it didn't give any direction as to what drill bit size we would need to use, so we were going to have to play the guessing game of hoping we got the correct ones. The directions simply stated use the long screws to screw the mounting board into the wall and the short screws to screw the mantle to the mounting board in the pre-drilled holes. Literally that was it. This is where the bigger issues came in. There were pre-drilled holes, but they all already had screws in them holding part of the mantle together, there was no mention of these, so we were unsure if we were supposed to take these out and replace them with the other screws, as these ones did not go through to connect the mounting piece to the mantle, or if we were supposed to have different pre-drilled holes that were not included. We then tried to determine what the course of action should be based on the hardware we received, it became even more confusing. There were 5 pre-drilled hole with the screws already in them, but only 3 of the short screws you needed to connect the mounting board and mantle, and the mounting board had 4 pre-drilled holes, and 6 long screws. If we made our own pre-drilled holes to connect the two, then we would be short on the wood stickers to cover them as there was only 5. There was no hardware inventory to included to make sure we had even received the correct amount of hardware. Overall, these instructions were just horrible, and if they were going to waste the paper making booklets, they could have at least made the instructions 2 pages instead of 1, which would have probably made them much more understandable, instead of trying to sell me more stuff that I now refuse to buy. Thankfully, this was all discovered before we started drilling into our walls. We returned and are going to be looking for a different brand.

Install is a mixed bag, but looks nice
It looks great, but I'm afraid to put anything on it. Granted, I chose to buy this for a highly irregular stone fireplace and had to chisel back some higher areas of stone so the mounting cleat would sit as flush as possible and the mantel itself could be installed onto the cleat without any obstruction. The concrete anchors and screws provided did not work in my situation. I ended up using 5/32" Tapcon masonry anchors to put the mounting cleat up. After putting the mantel part up, I ran into the short screw issue. The screws in the top are short and will not drill down to the mounted cleat. If I can find the longer screws, I may replace the short ones. But I don't have much space since the screw holes are so close to the fireplace wall.
