The paste was easy to use and burned very well with little bleeding ( see picture with grapes). The pen had more bleeding for the wood with stencil application (see picture with wine glasses).

I have tried "Torch Paste" and unfortunately not had a lot of luck. Not sure if it's the composition of the paste or my stencil is bad, but I just couldn't make it successful. I got this product to see if it is better and HANDS DOWN, it is. I love all of the components and the instructions that are quite clear on how to work it. Maybe it's the squeegee, or maybe my stencil, but I had very few spots where it had bled under the stencil. Love this and cannot wait to make more items from it! I also think that for all of the items they send, the price is really spot on. *Side note: I haven't tried the beeswax that came with it because I wasn't quite sure how to use it, but the actual paste is awesome!!!

Hey this actually does a great job leaving your design on wood. Take a couple of practices before you use your permeant piece of wood and have patience with letting it dry. Good luck and enjoy.

Let’s start with the core product, 150 g or approximately 4 ounces of wood-burning gel. Add-ons include beeswax for sealing, fine grain sandpaper, disposable gloves, 2 wood-burning marker pens with tip replacements, a scraper and instruction booklet.What’s not included with this kit? Specialty templates for marking desired patterns are not included. A heat gun or other high temperature generating device is also required to activate the wood-burning paste. The beauty of this product lies in its simplicity relative to its performance capabilities. Simplicity starts with the easy to do placement and secure taping of a suitable template to the wooden surface.The next step is to apply a thin layer of product to completely cover the area(s) within the template cut out. Wait a few moments for the harmless chemical reaction to complete its cycle and for the heat gun to warm up. The next step is the fun part where the heat gun is applied to the pasted area for a few seconds at a temperature of between 500 and 950 Fahrenheit.The final step is to use a heat gun once again to melt some of the beeswax over top of the entire board face to weather seal the lovely stenciled object that has just been completed. Those wishing to up the sealing game a notch further can apply a layer of epoxy that will add additional mitigation from rain, snow, UV rays etc.Here at the tree farm home base, we had ample opportunity to practice using this product with plentiful slab wood byproducts from the sawmill as illustrated in the attached workbench photo.The first project completed was the Street # illustrated in the attached photo. This was made from a large poplar live edge “puck” taken from a 24 inch diameter crosscut log. The finished product was quickly sealed in epoxy to prevent any damage to the stencil work, and also to prevent cracking and warping of the poplar puck. The sign was hung on a black chain around a uniquely shaped moss covered rock moved from elsewhere on the property and is lit at night with a small LED flood light submerged in a sunken enclosure in front of the sign.The next project will be two large 16 inch diameter by 10 feet long cedar log half slabs that will be stenciled with the name of the farm and family history and installed at the driveway entrance (picture attached). The media could not be loaded.  This stuff (whatever the concoction is) is a terrific way to create crisp and detailed wood burning crafts. Simply apply a TINY amount over your stencil with the provided squeegee (I didn’t even use all the amount in the photo) then apply heat until bubbled and all areas are darkened. Finish with a light sanding to remove the bubbles then apply wax to finish.I have no issues recommending this burning gel. My only mention is I have no clue what this concoction is (although I’m sure it’s easy enough to find) and to wear protection. Thanks for stopping by hope this was a help.
