Great for a beginner like me

No floor mat? Give yourself a full yoga workout using a folding chair with this book. Suitable for fully fit practitioners only.
I got this book as I have severe arthritis in my hip along with cerebral palsy chiefly affecting my left leg. This isn't quite the book I was expecting, but at the time of writing this review it was available for a very low price. Hence four stars rather than three. If I had paid £20 for this book I would be annoyed as the actual number of exercises I am physically able to do within the pages is very limited. The 'chair' you will need to use for this is a lightweight folding chair of the type used in church halls and community venues all over the UK. This is not an armchair exercise book. Very good existing balance is needed for a substantial number of the exercises which utilise lightly holding on to the chair as you bend and stretch into various highly athletic poses. This would be a very good buy for you if you are unable to attend regular yoga classes, and are perhaps limited in floor space at home or even in the office. A yoga mat isn't needed - just the chair as mentioned above. If you have fairly loose stretchy clothing on, you could fit a quick 15 minute routine in to your half-hour lunch break - or even just take your 5 minute coffee break as a chance to do a few stretches. A very good book for those who don't have floor access. Not really an exercise book for those physically unable to do floor yoga exercises due to bodily limitations. How much you are able to get out of this book very much depends on how you are affected by any impairments. It goes without saying that you should seek a doctor's advice before undertaking any exercise programme if you have any concerns.

Fantastic for workplace yoga too!
I hired this from my local library first, I am glad I did as I am now going to buy it. As a yoga teacher I used this for my ideas for a healthy women's day at the council where I worked, I taught a 1hr. Class and the women all loved it. It is such a shame that I am not allowed to do the same for healthy men's day at the council, as this is important! But I am pleased to say I am using this book to teach a chair /yoga class in January for the employees who have special needs, ie mobility, blindness and deafness

Absolute bargain.
This is an extremely helpful book if you are a complete beginner to yoga or have weight, joint or balance issues. There are loads of poses described and demonstrated as well as advice on breathing and meditation. There are some standing poses, using the help of the chair but most of the poses are done actually sitting in the chair so this is a great book for those with mobility issues. For the price I think it's a fantastic bargain.

There are some very good ideas in this book
I have taken three yoga classes to work through this book. It was good to have new material to work with. My pupils seemed to enjoy it

Good source of information
Good reference for those who need to practice in a chair, and others too.

Pro's: Hundreds of exercises to choose from. Pictures are clear and concise. Categorized by body area. Good written instructions. Cons: Not for beginners. It isn't that the exercises don't exist, they do, but there are so many to choose from, a newbie will get lost and will lose interest because they either hurt themselves, or find their level of fitness is not yet up to many of the movements illustrated. Personally, it is a great reference book, excellent for instructors, or seasoned practitioners. There is one thing I wonder about, is how does she actually get into some of those positions. Anyways, people who are recovering from an injury, those with disabilities, just starting, and Seniors may find this book a bit too involved.

I teach Chair yoga and purchased this book on March 11, 2021 to help me plan my classes. Of all my yoga books, this one, hands down, is the best resource for me. Over three years later and I’m still pulling new ideas from it. Unlike other books, the photographs and the instructions are clear and concise. You won’t find a better Chair Yoga book. I love it. I wish this author would publish more of her ideas.
