Walter Isaacson'sSteve Jobs: A Biography [Large Print] [Hardcover]2011 Review: Not much new to the Steve Jobs Fan, but an all in one chronology makes a fascinating read. - I do not write many reviews (Shame on me.) But I enjoyed this book so much. I think Walter Isaacson is one of the best for a project like this. I feel like nothing was left out and there was nothing put in I did not want to read. Isaacson said there he put things in that Jobs would not want to read, but he was not hard on Jobs. He made the worst of Jobs shine actually. The worst of Jobs is what defined him to seek greatness. We all know Jobs could be an A**Hole. But it came mostly from passion. And I think we are all happier for it. Job's Black/White outlook on things was almost comical when reading. He would stomp his feet and make the ideas he did not like sound stupid and he would not stop arguing with you until you saw it his way or just gave up. Either was good for him, because he always felt right. And he was most of the time, and the biggest oen to be wrong on, was his health and I though this part of the book was the best written part. Every time Steve was quoted, I channeled in his voice and it just made me smile. I was left feeling more connected to Steve than before reading. And that is what I looked for. - This was a "Job" well done. Review: learning more about Steve Jobs - Like most professionals, I have to use a PC at work and so I have some at home - but I love my Apple iMac. I'm also old enough to remember the beginning of the personal computer revolution and the start of Apple Computer, so I wanted to know more about Steve and Apple. I have really enjoyed - and been moved - by this biography. Of course, the focus is Steve, but the work illuminates an entire industry as well as an interesting pathway to incredible success. If you're interested in Steve Jobs, Apple Computer, or success in the high-tech world you will likely find this read or listen worthwhile.

Gripping Read
This is a gripping read and certainly informative. The book however, felt like there was so much more to tell about Steve Job's life, and too much was told about Apple's life. It felt a bit like an Apple infomercial. Maybe Steve Job's wife will take care of the rest in her autobiography.

I enjoyed this on many levels
I wanted to know all about Steve Jobs. I wanted to know all about Apple and how it began. I'm so glad I read...er...listened to this book. It is extremely well-written and the voice on the CD is very easy to listen to. It even sounds a bit like Jobs. I would have found a lot of the information in the book too tedious for actual reading, so I listened in my car. I am fascinated by what this man was able to do, but now I know for certain that I wouldn't have liked him personally. He was mean on purpose and had a true deficit of empathy. He lied when it suited his purposes and I have had enough of all that. Just really glad he was whatever he was because it really worked didn't it? I do recommend this as an audio book.

abridged, not full book
I ordered the Audio CD because I heard that the book was good. I saw nowhere on the description that it was abridged. Abridged books are usually not worth listening to. Too much is left out of the story.

buy it!!!
This is a very comprehensive book that details all aspects of Steve Jobs life and work bar one. Details about his formative years are sketchy. Walter Isaacson did not interview the one living person, adopted sister Patty Jobs, who could enlighten him more about interactions in the Jobs household that helped form Steve Jobs. Living relatives of Paul or Clara Jobs, his adoptive parents, were also not interviewed. Isaacson places more emphasis upon his biological parents. It seems that the literary works of Mona Simpson, Jobs biological sister, over influenced Isaacson. Even when there is a strong father figure in a home, mothers do help to form their children's personality. Clara Jobs gets no more than a few lines in a 600+ page book. Patty Jobs is mentioned only once or twice in passing. Research shows that she is still living and works at De Anza College in the payroll department, a position similar to that of her late mother. Hopefully a later biography will delve more thoroughly into Steve Jobs formative years.

Into the mind of a man who changed the world
You learn the positives and negatives that drove a man who changed the world. Most biographies I have read are written too long after a person dies. Since Steve J. knew he was dying, he opened up in a way that would not have been otherwise possible. Excellent read/listen. Author did an outstanding job on Jobs!

The book is a good read

Real insight into Silicon Valley and how the whole graphical user interface came about. It also seems a very honest and accurate account of the great man.

Well the first review that I had written few weeks ago was awful because I wasn't really impressed by the paperback quality since I am only used to to reading hardcover books. But when I started reading to this book through I really enjoyed glancing closely through the life of one of the greatest genius ever born. I really enjoyed glancing at the photos of Diana Walker's portfolios. I am really sorry for the first review that I wrote few weeks earlier and I would like to thank you utmostly for delivering such a great value to us.
