Posh fish paste. Highly recommended. Excellent value for money as it is two large pots supplied.
Delicious strong taste. Made from anchovies. Use sparingly at least at first. Excellent on toast or crackers buttered or otherwise, sandwiches, as an extra flavouring, canapés etc. Try roasted mushrooms with butter and this spread on. I've been eating it for over 60 years now.

Great quaility and a good price.
I've been eating this stuff for over 30 years. If you're reading this review, then I don't need to tell you about the taste, or how to use this food-stuff. What you will be surprised about is how 'fresh' it is, and the shelf life. I've had to put up with the only local supermarket near me in the UK as a provider. That's when they have it in stock. But here, I've found a supplier that's better, cheaper (slightly) and seems to supply a quality of product I haven't found elsewhere since the ceramic pots from Fortnum and Masons. More buttery, more spreadable - well, you only have to wave a knife with a smidgen on at your toast to get the flavour explosion. I'll be buying again from this supplier.

WOW
WOW, such a little pot with a gigantic punch of flavour. Be aware it is VERY salty, but oh so delicious. I took a pack of melted butter & added half a pot of "relish", then into a fridge safe tub. I just adore this on toast but equality good rubbed over a lamb roast before cooking.

Almost as good as it was which was very good
Lovely stuff. Very salty. Goes on hot buttered toast - Mwa! But... the recipe has changed slightly from my youth: it is softer and less gritty but even so is saltier and much pepperier, from which I deduce fewer anchovies and some added chilli. The heat rather buries the flavour; I so wish they had left it alone. Ah well.

Good price for this delicious treat
I paid £6 for 2 of the larger size Gentlemen’s Relish. This is an excellent price. The flavour of this is definitely a love it or hate it. If you love anchovies then you’ll adore it - otherwise don’t bother. It’s very powerful and should be spread thinly on hot buttered toast (in a similar style to marmite) - then it becomes quite addictive. Yummy.

Victorian Fare
You either like or are repulsed by this fishy spread. It should be used extremely thin spread on toast. It is salty but flavourful. It will last you a good while. I loved it

For a sophisticated palate…
Intense fishy flavour. A high umami hit. I think if you like marmite then you would probably like this. Have it on thin sourdough toast with lots of butter - absolutely divine. It joins Marmite, Yorkshire Gold Tea, and Frank Coopers Vintage Marmalade as indispensable products in my kitchen!
