I'm an engineer and this book is super useful. Engineers solve problems but some problems in work/life don't come with the right tools out of the box. This is a great read for anyone looking to find their Genius Zone and find the next career upgrade. Get this for the Engineer in your life.

I would recommend this book to, not only engineers, but anyone to whom wants to have a more fulfillment in any career.

I finished reading this just a few weeks ago. Jeff has so many great insights for engineers looking to be more intentional about their careers and more importantly about the lives they're building. Highly recommend!

Full disclosure: The author was part of my book coaching group and my wife edited his book, so I'm biased, but I also got a very in-depth view of the book while it was in progress all the way through to completion.Although I'm not an engineer myself, my father was, my brother is, and I've employed dozens of engineers in my business and I almost became one before I realized I didn't have the aptitude for it.What the author has created is a book that is about how to design and create a great life. It's actually a great book for anyone to read, not just engineers, but it's set within the context of engineering, so it's something an engineer can read and say, "Yeah, this author gets me and what I'm all about."This book is not a bunch of fluff, it's not the book equivalent of an inspirational cat poster, it's real, tangible ideas and tools to help you change your life. The author draws on experts from Sakichi Toyoda (founder of Toyota) to Stephen R. Covey to share impactful tips that can make a real difference.The book is also engaging and easy to read. Again, I'm biased, but if I didn't think it was worth your time I would leave a review.

I’m not an engineer, but I did read every page of this book. And I can honestly say a second title for this book could be “Creating the Intentional Life.”I found so many nuggets of wisdom that I can apply immediately in my life. I enjoyed reading this book and working through the activities. The book is short and gets right to the point of each thought. I liked the mindset section and activities. I also enjoyed reading the author’s thoughts on Life – Work balance. I would recommend this book to all those entering the engineering workforce and to those in their career at whatever stage of time that might be. This book can help one set their path to find what they would like or maybe like with me remind me that the job I has in one I would be looking for if I was not already in the job.

One of the statements that stood out to me was when the author said he helps his clients build alignment between their career and their lives. I think that's a perfect summary of what this book is designed to do.We all have priorities and things that are important to us in our careers. Taking our personal preferences and strengths and using them to guide us toward a career that is designed just for us seems like such a great way to build a rewarding career and a rewarding life.

The Intentional Engineer is an outstanding book for any engineer or technical professional interested in taking their career to the next level. The book is full of useful concepts and points of reflection that assist in framing work and personal challenges in an empowering way. I particularly enjoyed the section titled Mindsets Fuel Behavior, Behavior Fuels Results. The accompanying diagrams with the pyramids really drove home the concept. Mindset is fundamental to successful results. This book is a treasure!
