Good quality and hold strength
I bought these for mug straps when attending Ren Faire. As some of the mugs my friends and I use are fairly hefty, the snaps I received in one of the assorted kits here on Amazon were not strong enough and would release unintentionally, dropping the mug. These hold all our mugs (even ceramic) securely, while still opening easily with one hand.

Superior Quality, Holds Tight, perfect for thick leather
After trying 3 other leather snap kits, all of inferior quality, I came to the best. Perfect snaps. Strong hold. Works perfectly with thick leather. Ordered the Tandy install kit too, an absolute must for the perfect crimp. I wish Tandy made a large kit with a ton of snaps and the install tools with a case….

Great Quality Snaps
I use these in leather crafting wallets. purses, wrist bands etc. Be sure to purchase the all around tandy snap setting kit with these as well if you do not already have a setter kit. These are made for 8-10oz leather and worked well.

A QUALITY PRODUCT
I have been using these snaps for all kinds of repairs and other projects for the last several years. There are other less expensive snaps available both locally and from Amazon, but also of lower quality; at very least, the cheaper snaps don't fasten well with snaps made by other manufacturers (and they some times come off at inopportune moments). I'm almost out of snaps, so I will be ordering more of these shortly.

DO YOUR OWN SNAPS AND FASTENERS= IT'S EASY
PRO: Tandy stores may be gone; however, products remain, buying on Amazon is more convenient. You MUST have the setting tool, both base and punch tool to install these snaps. Great to be able to replace one when one on clothing etc goes south on you; even if not into creating new leather or clothing gear of your own. Bought for stock. Hardway's rolling toolbox of gunsmithing gear has fixed more than one holster,, snap on pants etc. Bought nickle, brass, and some black. NOTE; leather may need the 3/8" shank vs 1/4" shank... or buy both. ALSO, when installing, make sure base on SOLID surface, all pieces are properly lined up, when in position , HOLD the punch VERTICAL to the snap to avoid a crooked or angled when hit, which may not be tight. Drill out, save anything possible. Easy to do IF Careful. Repeat, have correct BASE and PUNCH tools to install. One star deducted for longevity, yet to be determined (have used Tandy for decades,, current ones life expectancy is yet to be determined.. NEVER replaced any of the old ones used. CON: None. davzway

Snap cups have issues
Updated review: After hammering the everloving crap out of the huge amount of leftover materials from stems for the cup (the part that goes inside the garment that snaps to the overlapping part) using a tool I designed to better set rivets for fabric/leather, the snaps do work well. The tool and a standard finishing hammer flattened the rest of the stem sufficiently for the snaps to work, and work well. The tool is basically a 1/4" brass rod with a concave end that doesn't scratch up the rivets as much as harder metal ones do. A rivet set tool using a hammer will work just fine, too. But it was definitely an extra step I've never had to use on snaps like these before. In the past, my snap set tool worked perfectly well. So one star off for the extra effort to make them work. But I did get them to work. I'd recommend you use a spreading set tool with a hammer, then a second flat-headed tool to make sure any bulk from the spreading set tool is flattened down. In comparing these snaps to the ones I've used in the past, the cup itself is about 1-1.5 mm shallower, which would definitely account for why they wouldn't close. The more stem material that pokes through into the cup, the more it needs to be flattened after spreading it out so it will hold in place. I went through two layers of deerskin and two layers of light fabric. That was actually more thickness of material, thus less stem sticking through, than in past projects. The thicker the material you're using this on, the less this is likely to be a problem for you. Tiny changed to improve the profit lines add up to larger headaches for the customer, I guess. Original review below (rated 1 star): Using standard snap attaching tools, the stems of the bases (the part that doesn't show) are too bulky or too long (or both) leaving a large amount of mashed metal in the cup part. This prevents the part that inserts into the cup from engaging and holding the snap in place. I will try to mash them down more with a hammer and 1/4" bolt, but standard snap installing tools should work, and they did not for the cup side. They worked fine for the side that inserts into the cup. But if the cup ain't havin' it, the snaps are useless. It's a very shallow cup, too.

These Worked Perfectly For A Leather Sheath Project!
These are exactly what I needed for an axe sheath project I was working on. Very good quality snaps that were used on a leather sheath for the strap to secure it on the axe head. Coupled with the General Tools snap fastener tool the mounting was very easy, these are perfect for crafts and other DIY activities. Highly recommended.

No instructions, no setting tools and the when It try using the setting tool I already have, it bends the bas rather than the post. Waste of money

Tandy snaps are the best. I have used these and cheaper prym. Both work but the Tandy ones are more secure/tighter. At times they are a bit to good and hard to unpop but that's not a fault really
