I have one other camera like this, as well as several stationary Smartcams. The setup is a lot like other wifi devices: you link it directly to your phone, identify your home wifi, name it, and go. Pretty simple, but probably not the first impression if you have never done it before. The instructions are very good, and the guidance in the phone app walks you through it. The camera has a crisp, clear display, and can be pointed to see 360 degrees with some overlap at each end of the rotation. Can be pointed up nearly 90 degrees, but down is limited to about 30-40 degrees; not bad. Remote control works well. Video is not real-time, but very close. Monochrome in night vision, but picture is very good in that mode. I bought this camera as a refurbished unit, and my last one as new. The drive motor on the refurb unit is a little quieter than the new one, but this may be just a lot-to-lot thing. My only complaint is Samsung has discontinued its cloud service, which would store events away from the camera. They say they are looking for a new service, but have not yet done so.

once setup the camera has a nice image and the controls are easy to use in the phone app..the pc side of things is in need of some help as the website to view your cam only supports internet explorer for the web browser, microsofts edge browser didnt work for me, had to use IE but i mainly just use the app on my phone without issue..some reviews mention the difficulty of setting up and getting connected in the android app.. i initially had a little trouble but after " manually " going into the app settings and allowing location permission and making sure that my phone also has location turned on then the app connected just fine...follow the instructions and turn on the requested services and you should connect just fine...also be sure your phone is on the same wifi network that the camera is going to be on when you set it up and on the 2.4 Ghz frequency.

The description states this product has two-way audio; however, after installation, the two-way audio feature did not work as you could not hear any audio coming through the camera. The audio was heard on the app through my phone, but no audio could be heard coming through the camera itself. I went into the settings on the app and made sure the volume was turned up all the way on the camera, but even that didn't make a difference. I contacted technical support through Amazon, but the gentleman on the line was very difficult to understand and although he was trying to be helpful, he did not know much about the product and had to continuously put me on hold to try to investigate how to troubleshoot. Ultimately, it wasn't worth my time to keep attempting to make the product work, so I returned it.

Everything was in the box as if it were new, so two thumbs up on the value part. I love the preset positions to program locations for the camera view. I mounted mine inverted to take advantage of the greater tilt range in that configuration. This makes it a little less conspicuous, as it is positioned to watch my front door. Creating the account for the app and configuring the device was a little tedious, but no worse that others I have encountered. The instructions were very comprehensive including screen shots at each step, although small in size making reading a little difficult for 50+ eyes. Something to be aware of is the transparent tape used to protect the unit in shipping. Initially, I did not notice it on the base and upon power up I heard the gears grinding as it went through its POST (power on self test). It seemed to function fine after removing the tape so hopefully no serious harm. Spoiler alert! The computer interface is lame. Be careful when logging in to the website on your computer. If you just type in the samsungsmartcam address your browser may pull up the non-secure site. Apparently they have an old URL still active that is insecure. I typed in the https:// in front to force the connection to the secure address. Then it indicated that my browser, Chrome would not run on this site and suggested that I use Internet Explorer. That gave me pause, but I complied. I have not run I.E. in years as it is bad and no longer supported by most legitimate systems. It needed a plug-in so I loaded that. The last straw occurred when it said it needed to run in admin mode. That is where I drew the line. No system worth its salt should require admin mode for any browser based application. If so, it is poorly written so I stopped at that point and will simply use the app on my phone to access the camera. It is a shame that the device is so good, but they dropped the ball on the computer interface with the website. Maybe they will address it soon. They mention downtime scheduled for December for addressing some issues with Safari, another poor browser choice in my opinion. Overall the camera seems like a good device and for the price is worth it.After a few days of operation I ordered a second unit.

Very happy with our refurbished Samsung camera. We installed it at our vacation home and while we're away, we view our vacation home using our cell phones. It gives us great comfort being able to see the condition of the inside of our place and knowing that we will be notified if there is any movement inside of our home. We set it up to be able to view our inside/outside thermostat so we can ensure that the temperature and humidity are within spec. We can also move the camera to view towards both the front and back doors. We already had the same model Samsung camera at our home and purchased the refurbished camera for our vacation home because we were comfortable with how it works.

Fresh out of the box, the Camera tried to pan/track but appeared to be jammed/stuck in one position. Made gear clicking noise but just could not turn. It should have been tested more thoroughly before being sent to customer. I tried resetting and reinstalling to no avail. Also tried both versions of the app. In the process of returning it.
