Got flies? GET THIS!
The media could not be loaded. We buy a ton of stuff from Amazon...too much stuff, lol. Because of that, I only write reviews if something sucks or if something, like in this case, exceeds my expectations. We live in Florida, and during the summer, we sometimes struggle to keep flies from getting inside. We are constantly coming in and out of several doors throughout the day. I've tried the fly traps that stink to high heaven (more on that in a moment), I've tried fly paper, and just about everything else. No dice. In near desperation, I bought this bug zapper. It took a little detective work to determine the most effective location to place this device, but once I figured that out, it started working its magic immediately. We have a propane-fired water heater in our garage next to the door leading inside. Turns out flies are attracted to the CO2 given off by the propane as it burns. They are also attracted to the odorant put in propane (called Mercaptan). This zapper is legit. I have been emptying the tray at least twice just to see the fly body count. It is definitely working, and at present, the fly problem is gone inside the house. Of course, it is zapping mosquitoes and other flying critters, too, but it is the flies we wanted dead. One thing to note - when it zaps a fly the sound is a bit startling. I can sometimes hear it inside the house. When I am in the garage and it gets one, I am still caught a little off guard by the sound. It is pretty loud. It is also oddly satisfying LOL. I will be getting a second one for our back porch near my grill as that is another fly hot spot. A note regarding those fly traps that you fill with water to attract and kill flies. We tried them several times. Here’s the thing… they will ATTRACT flies from miles around and they will trap and kill them. But they are bringing in flies that likely wouldn’t be on your property in the first place. We hung 3 of them as far from the house as possible at different locations. They quickly filled up with nasty flies but it made no difference to our inside problem. This zapper won’t attract any extra flies rather it just steadily deals with the ones you’d normally have around.

Works for the most part
I had a fly infestation during the hot summer, from flies finding their way around the balcony screen doors and come into my home to escape the heat. Since the flies were not lured by anything in particular, like trash or rotting fruit, they did not congregate in a specific place. Instead, they would continuously roam around my home, moving between the kitchen lights, balcony doors, and other windows. This bug zapper worked fairly well for this purpose, attracting the insects both during the day and evening. The zapping noise is loud enough for you to know that a something was zapped, but it wasn't annoyingly loud.Unfortunately, I found that not all insects are immediately killed. There were times when flies or other smaller insects were only temporarily stunned. They would eventually find their way out of the zapper and continue roaming my home. Sometimes, they would eventually die elsewhere, and other times, they would fly back into the zapper.Overall, I would recommend this as an acceptable solution. It's not perfect, but it mostly gets the job done. Just be on the lookout for occasional dead insects on the floor or counter top/table.Added 9/19/2024:After just over 2 years of continuous use, the UV bulbs burned out. That's nearly 18,000 hours of use, which is on the low end of what I would have expected, but not terrible

Outstanding!
I've bought probably 8 of these. We live in WV and stink bugs are everywhere. We keep 2 of these in the house on 24/7/365. They kill stink bugs without them stinking, and any other bugs drawn to light.

I'll never live without one of these again!
this thing is amazingly nice to have! I am visually impaired, which makes it darn near impossible to kill bugs or any other flying things that get into the house. However, with this zapper right across from the front door, winged insects, moths, etc, are drawn right to it. The only issue that some people may have with it is that it makes a very loud snapping sound when something flies into it. I know that may be too loud or disturbing to some people, and that's understandable. I've occasionally been startled by the snap sound in the middle of the night. Even so, maybe I'm weird, but I find the snap very satisfying. Lol. I highly recommend this item!!

bug zapper
the product does as advertised. it is not so easy to dismantle to clean or replace bulbs. one almost breaks the end caps in trying to remove them. as far as how well it does the task of zapping bugs, it does very well but tends to scatter smaller bug parts about 2 feet away from the unit, making for more of a mess and not so sanitary conditions and depends on one's gag quotient on cleaning up fried bug parts.and it works better when no other lights or activities are distracting the insects...i.e. graveyard shift.depending on the size of the bug, dictates how loud the zap is when they come into contact with it. bees are too big and end up suffering a long painful and agonizing death.
