This was a gift to my son and he loved it. He was using it with his daughter. They spent a long time exploring all kinds of subjects. My young grand daughter can use it by herself

It's light and fun and easy to use and I really liked the included slides. The focus ring turns and works well to see different surfaces clearly. But no matter what I tried this will not zoom in and out, which I was counting on. There is one preset magnification (not sure what level it is) which will not change.
