This is the best sharpener I've ever owned. I love that it has two holes for different pencil sizes, and the hinged lid is a great feature that keeps all the shavings contained. It's incredibly durable and consistently gives me a perfectly sharp pencil every time. This sharpener truly lasts!

I bought a more expensive sharpener thinking it would last longer. It didn’t and this one did. Good value, sharpens to a fine point and doesn’t break the leads.

I am a college student and also homeschooling two grade-schoolers, and so we sharpen a lot of pencils. Although I just ordered an electric sharpener today, we have not had one previously. 2 years ago I purchased this item for the first time, because I needed a hand sharpener with 2 different sized holes, and the other sharpener I had bought did not sharpen our pencils! It amazes me that it is so difficult to find a sharpener that doesn't tear up the wood and leave the lead all jaggedy. That's the reason I was sold on this pencil--I liked that it left the wood smooth and put a nice point on our pencils. It was also easy to dump out and, like others have stated, the shavings tray doesn't fall out unless you do it intentionally. For these reasons I've bought 2 more of these since, and we have worn them all out, albeit through heavy use. The main weak area seems to be the cheap plastic that the tops of these things are made out of. I broke the first one when a piece of led got stuck in it and I tried to tap the top of the sharpener on my desk (not hard!) to get it out. The plastic broke and left me with the metal only, so I ordered another. The second one broke when my daughter was simply sharpening her pencil--the black plastic top split in two. I am ordering one more of these now to have as a backup to the electric sharpener I just ordered. I think it will be great for that, but if you sharpen a ton of pencils like we do, then you might want to consider getting an electric one yourself. It will save you money in the long run! I should also mention that the metal blades stayed pretty strong throughout our usage, which was great. However, the big side of the sharpener does sharpen considerably more smoothly than the small side, which was okay for us because we were using primarily the fat pencils, but you might be doing otherwise.

I needed a pencil sharpener with a bigger hole for my square watercolor pencils and wasn't disappointed. Strong and sharp. Cuts through them like butter for a manual sharpener and does its job. And at the price point, love it! ❤️ (Why is Amazon asking me to rate it's "suction power?" Weirdos! 🤣 No Amazon, this doesn't suck. The magnets I wrote about a few reviews back did though. 🙄

Cheaply made. Hard to use, awkward. Basically a small average pencil sharpener inside a poorly made plastic case. It would not hold up in a child's hand.

My son LOVES this pencil sharpener. It works better than the electric one in his classroom. Every kids wants to borrow it. Which is fine because it works and doesn't dull. The only negative is that if it gets dropped on a hard tile floor, it breaks. One time the plastic outside shattered when one was dropped on a ceramic tile floor. Another one had the metal sharpener break off of the lid when it was dropped on the classroom floor. We will try to super glue it to see if we can get more life out of it. Sharpening quality, however, is superior. We even bought one for the teacher! Note added after the above: the outside plastic of the teacher's sharpener broke. We had given our child multiples of this- one for in the car, one for at his desk, one for his backpack, one for downstairs- and most of them have had something or other break. I want to love this, but it needs to be sturdier. Ugh!
