Really good item works as described.
People do your research and read the instructions very carefully, this is a great item and works as described. We’ll see down the road in couple months and check its performance.Yes you will need to buy grounding rod separately and a good hammer to nail it down into the ground. Is very cheap at your local hardware store. The other cool part is that you can also use a solar battery pack to power it in case there is no power supply to where to where you will be using it, I’m going to buy a solar battery pack and try it probably in a couple months.

Skeptical
I was skeptical when I first bought this. It is working better than I thought it would. Has quite the zap to it. Only downside is the plug in is very cheap. The first one I got was fried by some water sitting in the box I had it in. I did find a nice box to keep water from getting to the second one and it’s been working just fine.

Keeps the trash pandas out!
We had an electric fence around our pond. It worked well for years but, for some reason, the raccoons decided that, that particular energizer was just giving them a tickle so, it was party on! in the pond. We installed this one. Just an easy swap out of the old unit and, just like magic, no more pool parties!

Keeps the raccoons out of our corn!
Last year the raccoons stripped our corn I'm one night. This year I planted 2 times to have a longer season. I bought a solar fence charger and fenced of the patch. The raccoons weren't even slowed down and stripped the first planting in one night again. I then watched our cat squeeze under the bottom wire without batting an eye. I looked at several chargers that were stronger and also have a faster pulse. I switched out to this charger. The first thing I did was test it with a cheap fence tester. The tester did glad with the old charger. With this charger the tester flashed much brighter and I could hear the charge sparking in the tester as well. The second planting of corn came on and there was no evidence of raccoons ever getting into the patch. There were even a few places where small weeds had contacted the fence and were burned back. I did use the 110 vac adapter that came with the unit but have been thinking of setting it up with a solar system nest year. So far I have been impressed and would recommend.

A bear got my beehives!!!
A bear just tore through my beehives (twice) because it took a day or two to get everything to install the fence. After the fence was installed, no more bear problems. You have to buy electric wire/rope, the posts to put the rope through, and copper grounding wires. We got everything from Amazon. It arrived quickly. Not sure my bees will survive the winter though because of the destruction the bear initially did, but I am ready and my bees are protected now….

Draws too much power. Is not waterproof.
THIS IS NOT WATER RESISTANT. So the seller just admitted to me after 4 messages. I have asked to return it, an outdoor device that is not water resistant is just a bad joke.Draws too much power. and its volt reading is inaccurate. I put it in to replace a 30-mile Parmak charger that's going in for repair. This one is much stronger, OK, but it must be wasting power. It draws down the big deep cycle battery much more than the Parmak did. I have to unplug it every day or so and let the battery recover. The Parmak ran fine with this battery and a panel half the size of the new one I put on. Alas, reviews say Parmak has gone downhill in quality. So I'm having my old one rebuilt.Another review here says the guy opened it up and a sticker inside said it must be kept dry. Wow, a dry requirement for an outdoor fence power supply? That's like having a Ferrari but you can't start the motor or even sit in it. It's like a big delicious steak made out of plastic. What madness. Now I have to go build it a little wooden coffin.
