Great camera
I'm liking reolink a lot. Be sure to get the stand alone camera if you want UID to access via smart assistants

A good camera rendered essentially useless by the dismal quality of the supporting software
I bought this camera mainly because of the zoom capability and the supposed ability for detection of moving objects including animals. The camera itself appears to be of good quality. User documentation looks slick but lacks substance. The client program that runs on your computer is suggestive of a number of capabilities that simply do not work, not even a little bit. Worst of all, I repeatedly encounter a problem with getting either the phone app or the client to log in to the camera. Because of the imbecilic approach they have taken with communication between the camera and either the phone or the client program, it is not possible to have any clue whether there is a problem with communication over the WiFi LAN, or whether there is instead some problem with the login ID and credentials. It drives me nuts when I encounter this kid of thing. It tells me that the people who "designed" the product, or believed that they did, were extremely naive and did not really have the necessary experience to do this kind of thing. The phone app and the client should both display a message that states unambiguously whether there is a problem with exchanging data. This should be tested, and if there is a problem with exchanging data, there should be a message displayed to the user stating, "There is a problem with data exchange between the camera and the app/client you are using". If data exchange seems to be working but for some reason the app/client is not able to log in, the error message should say, "Data exchange between the camera and the app/client you are using seems to be okay, but the password you are entering does not match the password stored in the camera, for the user ID you have entered."You see, the kind of problem that the consumer encounters with this kind of toy, where there is no possible way for you to even know whether the problem is with communication or with login credentials, should never happen. Given this very serious and very infuriating design flaw, it is perfectly fair to assign the label "junk" to the product. If Reolink objects to this label being attached to their product, then they need to pay attention to what I am trying to get across to them and start performing like real professionals instead of a bunch of undisciplined self-taught programmers. I simply need to be able to determine whether the camera and the app/client are not exchanging data, vs. the scenario where they are exchanging data and for whatever reason the login attempt is being rejected. If I cannot determine which of these two potential problems is the one I am encountering, how can I possibly troubleshoot the problem? It annoys me to no end that the so-called engineers who designed this product are so distantly removed from reality that they have no comprehension of this kind of thing. They are utterly, patently incompetent.Their "customer support" is operated out of a part of the world where the telephone infrastructure is exceedingly unreliable. It is virtually impossible to have even a short phone conversation. For intents and purposes, their technical support does not exist. Even if you manage to get a phone connection that isn't garbled, the person you speak with will have very poor knowledge of the product they are supposed to be supporting.Occasionally when it is actually working for me, I spend time trying to figure out how to control what gets written to the memory card. The client that runs on the computer is a veritable disaster, and the app on the phone is even worse. The user documentation contains no definitive statements of the type that reads, "When you do this, the following will happen ...".The client that runs on the computer is an abomination. It is such a mess that none of the technical support people understand it. Basically, the client alludes to capabilities that are essentially vaporware. The camera does not seem to behave in a fashion that bears close resemblance to what the client alludes to. There is no way to know exactly what the camera does. I think that it does actually store the information that is sent to it, reflecting what you see on the screen so that when you disconnect and subsequently reconnect it will look the same. Not to suggest that you can't get the camera to do basic stuff. It does the basic stuff, which is to say, it will record according to the schedule you set for it to record. And basic motion detection seems to work. But that's pretty much all. The instructions do not even say whether, when you make settings for the detection of animals, or people, or moving cars, this influences what is recorded to the memory card vs. only what is flagged for you to see when you use the client to review the recorded video. There are no well-worded, definitive statements that tell you just what these settings actually do. This is partly why I have concluded that it is mostly vaporware that manifests an attempt to do what they saw that some other company was doing, but did this without a usefully complete understanding of what that other company was actually doing.I have concluded that it is 100% fair for me to advise anyone considering the purchase of ANY Reolink camera to expect that supposed advanced capabilities in the area of motion detection and recognition of animals, people and cars will be nothing more than vaporware that will become a huge headache for anyone who thinks otherwise and who tries to make sense of it. Additionally, expect that with their WiFi cameras, that you will have a lot of difficulty and will not be able to determine whether the problems are with the data exchange over the WiFi LAN vs. difficulty with accounts and passwords. Major, major headaches, in other words.

Back up again.
Yeah, this died after 10 months. It was under a roof in a loafing shed so only had to endure temp swings. No weather. Not impressed.Update: Reolink support worked with me on this and we were able to get this working again after some firmware updates. The connection takes some time but the camera is nearly 300 feet from the house. I really appreciate that they stand by their product and did offer a full refund. Thank you Reolink.

Reolink Support Services
Over the last year I have bought several types of Reolink cameras and NVRs and have been very well pleased. This latest camera developed a problem with autofocus not working right. Contacted Dean through online chat and he spent over an hour helping me try to find a fix. He was very thorough. Our fixes didn't help, so he sent my info to Warranty Services who very quickly arranged for me to be sent a new replacement and return the problem camera. I received that replacement in two days and the other is being returned. Their products are top notch and their Support is also. Thank you Dean and Ash for your help.

Camera doesn’t move.
I bought this thinking I would be able to move the camera from my phone. I was wrong. In order to move the camera you have to remove 3 screws that hold the dome on, to move it. You also have to remove the dome to screw the camera down to anything.

This Reolink Wireless Camera is a very good security dome camera with a lot of great features.
This Reolink Wireless Camera (RLC-843WA) is a very good security dome camera with a lot of great features, which is why I like it. It has color night vision capability which works well until the ambient light level gets too low. But it also has infrared capability and infrared lighting out to 100 feet, which automatically turns on when there is no ambient light. This camera not only records video, but also has a microphone so it hears and records any audio taking place in the monitored area. There is also a two-way talk capability, so you can speak with anyone that is in the monitored area. The camera has a 5X optical zoom. It also has a couple of white LED spotlights that can be manually turned on to light up the immediate area in front of the camera at night. It even has an audible alarm. This camera can detect movement in the monitored area and can discern whether the movement is caused by pets, people or vehicles.Setup is straightforward; just follow the Quick Start Guide instructions, and this camera will be up and running in no time. A wireless router with an Ethernet connection and a smartphone (or PC), will be required. I found that this camera has great wireless range.Camera installation is the hardest part, but a paper template is provided for placing the screws. The camera’s viewing angle will also have to be properly aligned to monitor the desired area. Also a power receptacle is required (which may be tough to get to, I was lucky) for the plug in power supply needed to power the camera. A 4.5 meter (14.7 foot) power extension cable is provided.I really like this camera, and the Reolink cameras in general. I now have three of them.
