Secure and User-Friendly Crypto Wallet with Enhanced Passphrase Protection
The Trezor Safe 3 is a hardware wallet designed for securely storing cryptocurrency while protecting users against phishing, malware, and other digital threats. With passphrase protection and a secure element, this device adds an extra layer of safety for crypto enthusiasts. I tested the wallet by storing various cryptocurrencies, sending transactions, and experimenting with its recovery options to evaluate its overall performance.Pros:✅ Enhanced Security: The passphrase and secure element features provide robust protection against unauthorized access and physical tampering.✅ User-Friendly Interface: The setup process is straightforward, with clear on-screen instructions and a smooth connection to the Trezor Suite app.✅ Broad Compatibility: Supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and ERC-20 tokens, making it versatile for diverse portfolios.✅ Portable Design: Compact and lightweight, easy to carry while maintaining a durable build quality.✅ Open-Source Firmware: The open-source nature ensures transparency and allows security audits by the crypto community.Cons:❌ Learning Curve for Beginners: The passphrase feature can be intimidating for users unfamiliar with crypto security concepts, requiring careful attention to avoid accidental lockouts.❌ No Built-in Battery: The wallet requires constant connection to a power source or computer, which could be inconvenient in some scenarios.Performance and Usability:The Trezor Safe 3 excels in delivering peace of mind for secure crypto storage. During testing, I found the passphrase protection feature invaluable, but it requires users to remember their unique passphrase, as there’s no recovery option if forgotten. Transactions were processed swiftly, and the integration with Trezor Suite was seamless. The device is tactile and responsive, with an easy-to-read screen that confirms transaction details clearly. The secure element effectively guards against physical tampering, adding to its reliability.Comparison:Compared to competitors like the Ledger Nano X, the Trezor Safe 3 shines with its open-source firmware and transparency, while Ledger's proprietary approach may appeal to users seeking more app integration. However, the Trezor lacks Bluetooth functionality, which Ledger offers for mobile convenience.Who Is This For?:The Trezor Safe 3 is ideal for intermediate to advanced cryptocurrency users who prioritize security and transparency over convenience. It’s particularly suited for individuals with large or diverse crypto portfolios seeking an extra layer of protection. Conclusion:The Trezor Safe 3 is a reliable and highly secure hardware wallet, with standout passphrase protection and transparent, open-source firmware. While it may pose a slight challenge for beginners, it’s an excellent investment for experienced crypto users who prioritize security over convenience.

Effective but small screen
Product is very strong and secure. One negative, if you are over 45, chances are you can't read the small fonts on the screen. Should have been much larger.

Will not recover a wallet with BIP39 words, created on a Model T (only seems to use SLIP39)
I went through the laborious process of trying to recover a BIP39 24-word wallet from a Trezor Model T to this Safe 3, but at the end it said "this wallet was created on a different device" and it refused to recover the wallet. Now I have to throw it away and buy a used Trezor Model T on eBay.In addition, I manage my own wallets (I do not use an exchange) and so I understand what the BIP39 list of 2048 words is, and how 24 words from a list of 2048 words can be substituted for each 11 bits of a 256-bit secret. It turns out that Safe 3 and Safe 5 use a new list of different words called SLIP39. It seems to me that if I have one Trezor Model T and some online wallets that use BIP39 words, and a Trezor Safe 3 that uses SLIP39 words, that this will all get very confusing. I will only be able to recover Safe 3 wallets onto Safe 3 or Safe 5 devices, and presumably not anywhere else such as a Ledger device or an older Trezor or an online wallet. I prefer to stick to devices and wallet backups that all use the same BIP39 list of words.I realize that everybody will say "Oh my God, never trust a used crypto hardware device from eBay!" But if I use Trezor Suite to wipe the device, then recover an old wallet by typing in my 24 words then I don't see the problem. How is someone going to tamper with a Trezor Model T in a way that somehow tells an attacker what list of 24 words I typed into it? I suppose a device that has been tampered with might generate only secrets that the attacker knows about, but that is not how I use devices from eBay. If I need a new list of 24 words I know how to generate one securely without asking a used Trezor Model T to do it for me.

Good wallet, good software
My Brother in Law told me I should NOT keep crypto on the exchange and recommended this brand wallet. He is HUGE into crypto and I was not so I took his advice and got this. I’ve been using this Trezor for a while now, and it’s been a solid experience. It came with a charging cable, which was a nice touch, and the setup was straightforward. The app is user-friendly and makes managing my crypto easy. I’ve transferred both XRP and BTC with no issues—everything works just as expected. The mobile app and desktop app is also pretty well done, I don't typically run across any bugs.
