Will this take a weight of a person upto 20 stone?

It should do, yes - BUT - it is simply designed to provide a continuous base over existing wooden slats (or a metal grid) on an existing bed frame - for the purposes of providing uniform support for a pocket sprung mattress. It would NOT provide a solid support (for any weight) in any other scenario.

If i laid directly on the board. would they bend where each of the boards link? Thank you

The boards come as 3 separate pieces, which you put onto a divan or slatted base and then put a mattress on top. You could tape them together to stop them moving apart, but I think they would bend if you didn’t have something underneath to support.
