It's a Winco 40QT pot
I brew 5 gallon batches of beer and make huge pots of soups and stews with this thing. The lid fits great. It's a heavy pot and I consider that a plus. To make my final decision on what 10 gallon stainless steel pot I was going to buy, I looked at the shipping weights and picked the heaviest one. The handles are attached well and it feels very secure while lifting 9.5 gallons of liquid. The only thing that bothered me is when I tilt the pot (while empty) I can hear a small piece of something rattling around the inside of the clad bottom. I didn't mark off a star for that but I didn't know the bottom had a hollow void. It's very bottom heavy and if the rattle wasn't there, I wouldn't have known. It takes a bit of power to heat all that metal up but the even heat distribution is nice. I have a 100,000btu propane burner that I use while brewing beer. I use the "Brew In A Bag" (BIAB) method and have never scorched or melted my bags or mash. If you are thinking about brewing 5 gallon all grain batches using the BIAB method, I would go with a larger pot. You can use this one, and I do, but a larger pot would have been better. Because of the water displacement of the grain; when I brew high gravity beers I can't add all of the water from the start (along with all of the grain). Around 15 gallons would be luxurious for that application but I make it work and it works well. But onto soups and stews... The pot has a stout stance that works well on top of a stove top. Because the pot has a wide circumference and shorter height, the height makes it easy to work inside the pot without needing a step stool. I do wish that the pot was more finely polished but at this price you really can't complain too much.I have a new but inexpensive stove and this pot really pushes the BTUs to the limit. I have my heat on full blast and it's just enough. Works well but I don't think I could use a larger pot without having to upgrade my stove top to a more powerful model.I bought it because I believed it was the most pot I could buy at this price range (Sounds like a cheech and chong movie quote). And after using it for a couple of months, I still believe that it is the best deal for what I wanted. Clad bottom, stainless steel, riveted handles, heavy and stout.Oh one other thing to consider, it's probably too wide to fit into your sink.

Soup for 60 -- This Pot Did the Trick!
We needed a pot big enough to serve soup to 60-65 people for an event. This pot did the trick beautifully. We served an organic chicken chili to 60, and had a couple of gallons left over. Thankfully, the pot even fit into our sink at our farm where the event was held, so we were able to wash it in hot water. I was a little concerned that our gas stove would have a hard time heating the enormous contents of this pan to a boil. It did take a LONG time to get hot once we put the chicken broth in there, but once it got hot it did not take much heat to keep it there. We had to purchase a new soup ladle that was long enough to reach to the bottom. This one worked well and reached all the way to the bottom of the pot: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005AL7F/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00. All in all, very happy with this purchase. We did not try to lift it off the stove when full, and I think that would be an enormous challenge -- keep in mind, this is a 10 gallon pot! Tremendously heavy even with a couple of gallons of soup left--it took 2 of us to pour the remaining soup into a smaller container.

really good pot
we got another 5 cases of tomato’s and needed a larger pot to do spaghetti sauce before canning. we had picked up a 3 burner propane stove for it to fit. keep in mind this would not work well for a “normal” sized glass or electric top stove. we knew that going in and understood it would only be used on the big propane stove outside. it worked perfectly. the solid extra thick bottom was perfect for many hours of simmering.day to day use for us is not a big deal. we got this only for putting sauces together before putting them in a canner. full of sauce 1 inch from top gave us 37 quarts of sauce.

All around perfect pot
I have been shopping for a big AFFORDABLE stock pot. I can food so I wanted a sizeable pot to make soups, stews, chili etc. This pot can really handle large quantities. Last weekend we cooked and later pressure canned 34 quarts of chili. This pot can really handle a big batch with no sticking or burning.I hate to buy a pot that I cannot lift, look at, and touch. I want to know what I am purchasing with first hand experience. Big pots, available in high end cooking supply stores are way too costly to even consider. This pot, at $145, is a real bargain.

I have always known that a magnet will not stick ...
I have always known that a magnet will not stick to stainless steel and when this pot came I put a magnet on it, it stuck to it which made me skeptical. The box was torn up badly but the pot seemed ok. I purchased this pot from MVTRADINGONLINE and when it came it was twice as big as I needed. This pot is huge! so it was my mistake. I sent it back and after paying $139.89 for it my refund was only $92.00.They explained that it is their policy to take the shipping and 20% for a restocking fee. Be careful to choose your size accurately.

Not heavy gauge
I have a commercial quality, heavy gauge stock pot that is smaller than this and it is much more solid, with thicker metal on the sides. If you dropped this one on its side/edge, Im pretty sure it would bend out of shape. I expected more after reading all the rave reviews. I think it will work for what I need but this isnt what I expected. I do like that its squat enough to sit on my stove and fit under my microwave and the bottom seems thick enough to not burn, but I havent tried it yet. If I push on the sides they flex fairly easily under moderate pressure.
