Met my need of transferring old VHS to digital
I wanted something to transfer old vhs tapes to digital and this fit the bill.It was recognized by the software I already use, and easy to setup.Def a good value for the money.I wasn't super impressed with the end quality of what I saved, but really can't tell if that was because of my old tapes, my old player, or this.In either case, I was happy because I came in with low expectations and a low budget.

it works great BUT
I spent an afternoon trying to get it to work. Turns out the usb plug I was using was not strong enough. I changed it and ta da. I still can not get close caption, that's the hdmi tho. It does not transmit CC.

Can only recommend for the most casual, bare-minimum usage
I will preface this by saying this is an absolute nightmare to get working with the Elgato HD60 Pro and advise to stay away from this if you plan on capturing footage, but I won't hold that against this product as it's an issue on the capture side. For its price, this is a steal simply for getting an image from your consoles onto a modern TV that doesn't have RCA In or doesn't support 480p or below. It's extremely small and light, and can sit suspended from cables without stressing them at all if necessary. It only requires USB power through an included cable and is easy to set up. Though I didn't test it myself, I can see it being wonderful for a VCR or DVD player. The sound is good, and I was surprised by it being able to filter out the luma crosstalk from the analog signal that usually manifests on bright, white screens when not using adequately shielded RCA cables. It has 80 milliseconds (5 frames) of display lag, which is a non-issue for videos, and isn't too bad for low-framerate, low-action, or roleplaying games, but is enough to throw you off or straight up cause reaction problems in faster games or games you're more used to. It's advertised as having low latency, but this matched my analog capture card's delay exactly. The video quality, being the most important factor, was unfortunately where this product fell way short. The image is slightly oversaturated and high in contrast, and the black is crushed (you can see the gradient background down to "Ev. 22" in the first screenshot, but on analog capture, you can see it down to "M Def. 98"). Getting proper colors will require a bit of tinkering with video settings on your TV or capture card, and you'll lose some fidelity in the process. Even through S-video, everything is a bit blurry. There is a ton of noise on solid colors (visible on the floor in the second screenshot). Worst of all, the deinterlacing is horrendous. The converter tries it best to match a deinterlace filter on the fly which is visible if you switch back and forth between input resolutions, but regardless of what resolultion you're inputting, there is always some combing and some jitter visible.Overall I'd give it a pretty moderate 3 out of 5. Great value, but as an AV nerd, the picture doesn't do it for me.

Came obviously opened, but it works fine
Works fine. Mine came in a bent up box that had obviously been opened before.Better output on RCA video than the other cheap RCA-only adapter I have did.
