Runs WAY small, but they are the best!
I bought a medium for our almost 5 month old daughter that weighs 16.5 lbs. Since medium was 6-12 months and 16-22 lbs, I thought it would be perfect. Well, I can get them on her but they are incredibly tight around the openings and after swimming for 30 minutes, they left horrible red marks around her legs. I used them twice and had the same result.I bought a large and those fit perfect. They fit well under her swimsuits (even the ones that claim they have a built-in swim diaper but are too baggy that I don't trust it!) and have a few layers that I HOPE will contain any poo if that happens.Unlike another reviewer said, it DOES NOT contain pee. I haven't heard of any swim diaper that does, so I don't care, but I don't want to give anyone false hope. While standing outside the pool waiting for swim class to begin, my daughter peed on me. And it ALLLLL came right through. Fun stuff. She did "shart" in it once but it was hardly anything to really allow me to speak on their effectiveness for a full-on poop... but the shart was contained and actually rinsed off extremely easily, so I have high hopes. If she does ever poop in the diaper, I will come back and update - since she is a breastfed baby and has very loose stools, I'm worried that it will leak since it's pretty liquidy. I hope I never have to find out. These are a pain to get off of her with one hand (while I hold her with the other) and I can only imagine how much worse it would be if they were full of poop.********UPDATE**************I tried a Huggies disposable swim diaper to see how it compared - it honestly was MORE difficult than this reusable diaper. The disposable was harder to get on. I thought it would at least be easier to get off since you can just tear the side tabs, but it wasn't. It was like the bathing suit clung to the disposable diaper and the bathing suit was extremely difficult to get off. Tearing the sides wasn't any easier than pulling down the reusable diaper. I wish I hadn't wasted my money trying disposables!*******UPDATE 2*************I'm back to buy my 3rd one of these (bigger size as my daughter is obviously growing up). I tried an iPlay diaper since they had it at a local store for a couple bucks cheaper and I did not like it. Neither did my daughter - as she is very opinionated these days. I noticed the the iPlay diaper was cut differently. The legs on these diapers are higher cut, so there is not as much of the swim diaper showing from underneath the bathing suit. I noticed the same problem with the way the Finis brand was cut... very similar to iPlay. It looks ridiculous. Also, the iPlay diaper didn't cover her rear end as much as I would hope. So back to the Tuga brand! I do wish they were gender neutral - but perhaps they are cut differently for boys and girls like Pull-ups are (I'm not sure yet as I have not bought a boys Tuga swim diaper). Now that I'm 5 months pregnant with a boy, I'm bummed I won't be able to reuse these for him. However, I like them so much that I'll just buy our boy his own when the time comes!*******UPDATE 3*************I now have the 3T size for my 22 month old daughter. IF I had gone off the weight they have listed in the sizes, it would have been disastrous. She is 29 lbs and is still a little chunkster with large thighs. The 3T fits perfectly. Even though it's actually TWO sizes up based off their size chart, I took a chance with the 3T size since that's what she wears for her normal clothes. Plus I wanted it to last all summer. It is tight enough to contain any accidents but it's not uncomfortable. Plus, these are the CUTEST swim diapers I've ever seen :) I still love these and will only buy these swim diapers for now on for our baby on the way!********UPDATE 4**************I've re-used these swim diapers for my son (hey now, his trunks cover up any girly-ness) and I still love them. He's not as chunky but the sizing still seems to run small for him as well. To this day, neither of my kids have pooped in a swim diaper. My daughter is now 4 and my son is almost 2. I probably just jinxed myself big time.

Fit acording to chart for us.
After reading the reviews I was a little concerned about fit. So I ordered two sizes. The size my daughter should be in acording to the weight chart and the next size up. I figured worst case I would have to return the smaller size. My daughter has been potty trained for almost 2 years now but recently began having some accidents and I did not want a problem at the pool. As such we have yet to see how they contain but the smaller size, which is her size acording to the size chart fits just fine. She is in an XL, which fits 28-33 lbs., she is right at 28lbs. They are in no way too tight and she will be able to wear them for a long time the way they fit. Now, I will say she is a skinny girl. She just turned 3 last month and I still have her in 18 month shorts, unfortunately I can't do that in pants and dresses as they are too short. But less I digress, I can see how these might not fit a chubby legged little one by size, however a skinny to medium legged little one should be just fine in them. The bum on them is rather baggy on her, though that does not matter to me as I always put her in board shorts over her suit. I bought these so she would not realize that I was putting a diaper of sorts on her after all she is a "big girl", she just thinks she got a new suit. I actually think I may return the larger pair. Unless she was to have a major growing spurt I think they would still be too big in a year from now. Seeing as by the chart they should not fit for another 5 pounds and preschoolers don't generally gain weight that quickly. So my advice if your little on is on the skin to medium size by acording to the chart, if their legs or waist is a little bigger buy up a size. Up until she was 18 months I just used the shell from one of her cloth diapers and that worked wonderfully for us. But I stopped putting her in that at the pool around 18 months because she was fully potty trained for over 4 months with no indication that an accident was likely even at the pool.Only reason not giving five stars is we have not tested for containment.

Pretty cool
I bought this to try and hide the fact my two year old is wearing a swim diaper. We are going on a cruise and while she is potty trained, accidents happen, and i would rather be safe then sorry. (neurotic mommy)The diaper works great, except when it gets wet the bathing suit material sags and gives the impression she had an accident. I mean really sags. She gets confused and tells me she didn't go potty. To date she has not gone potty in the diaper...so from a reusable standpoint, we have not found out. I hope not too. That being said, it seems like it would do the job. I wouldn't use it if my child was not potty trained, or training and using real underwear normally. If she were to have a real accident it would need an immediate fix. It fits like clothing, so it isn't at sealed as a diaper is. Again, great for the child who is potty training and can tell you when they have to go, And relatively accident free. I would not use on an infant or diaper wearing baby.

Great, but runs small.
I was looking to get a swim diaper that I could wash and re-use instead of continually buying disposable swim diapers. I bought the 2XL for my 2 year old that is just over 30 lbs. They were too tight! She wore them a couple of times and then started complaining that it was too tight and so I was forced back into disposable swim diapers for the rest of our trip. I should have ordered these earlier so that I could have returned them for a different size. However, they look great and seem to work well at containing messes as they are snug fitting around the waist and legs. So, provided you get the right size, I think these are a great pick for a swim diaper.
