High quality knife, great price point for what you get
This knife is very high quality and was razor sharp out of the box. I’ve had knives of all kinds and price points, and this one is great for the price. Looks great, has a shark blade, and the edge holds up well to standard use. The spring assist works great and helps to open quickly with just a small push. The grip is solid and feels great in my larger hands. Size and weight are great and feels light for this quality of a knife, but does not feel cheaply made because of the lighter weight. If needed, I would but this exact model again.

An EDC Modern Classic Well Worth the Price
Kershaw's Blur is one of those designs that hardly seems to age a day and in my opinion remains just as relevant for EDC well after it first released in 2004, and it's been one of my go-to choices for a good reason. The anodized aluminum handles make this knife deceptively lightweight for the size and help to make it feel smaller than it actually is while in your pocket, and the rubber inserts on the handle offer plenty of grip without being so aggressive that they'll tear up your pockets. The blade comes hair shaving sharp right out of the box, and the 14c28n blades that come on most models is ridiculously easy to resharpen yourself if you don't feel like sending back to Kershaw for resharpening. The inset liner lock helps to cut down on weight in conjunction with the aluminum handles, and has been plenty strong even after years of use on the Blurs in my collection. Kershaw's "SpeedSafe" assisted opening system is very authoritative when deploying the blade, and definitely helps the Blur live up to its name. Interestingly, I would say the springs on the Blurs feels "gentler" than on other Kershaws I own, such as the Cryo and Link, but I'd say the spring system on the Blur perfectly nails the sweet spot for reliability while still being fairly easy to use. YMMV on the finish though. On older production Blurs with finishes on the blade, they feature a DLC coating on the blade, while current production models have Cerakote applied on the blades. I personally haven't noticed an appreciable performance difference between the two finishes on my Blurs, positive or negative, given my relatively pedestrian use for most of my folding knives, just something to keep in mind if that is something that matters to you for your needs. Honestly, the only real gripe I can offer to the Blur's design is a very minor and personal one, that being the long outdated pocket clip design being unfriendly for left-handers. Even 21+ years after its introduction, its still a right side only design, so your only options to adjust how you carry it is changing from tip up or tip down. I personally am somewhat ambi, but prefer using my blades left handed and carrying my blades in my left side front pocket in reflection of that, so it's a minor annoyance when I have to fiddle around to flip it over to the correct side to deploy the blade, but really it only takes me just an extra second. Beyond my minor complaint about the outdated ergonomics, it really is still one of the best EDC buys for the price even more than two decades after its introduction. Highly recommend the Blur for anyone looking for a nice, pocket friendly blade but doesn't want to spend big bucks on a Benchmade or even some of Kershaw's more premium offerings like the Launch series of automatic knives or the crossbar locking Bel-Air series. Here's to yet another two decades for the Blur!

Another great knife from Kershaw.
I picked this one up at the local Wall-Mart for $65 and it was worth it. It opens lighting fast and has an nice grip feel to the handle. Very easy one handed operation, both opening and closing. I was lucky to get the one with the real toothy serrated blade, more like a saw. A great camping companion. Carries well in my pocket. Doesn't come out unless I want it to. It's razor sharp right out of the box. A nice addition to my collection. If you buy this knife I'm sure you will like it. I'm updating this review because I think it's very important to stress the Kershaw difference. Yes, that sounds like an advertisement, and it was meant to be. I have had such great response from Kershaw that I've decide to become a reseller of their knives. They are simply the best with regards to customer service. Now let's start by saying that no one, and I mean no one can make a perfect knife. They all will have defects from time to time. If you get one that slipped through the cracks and wasn't up to specs You would want a refund or a replacement, right? That's what Kershaw does and more. They will communicate with you directly and they will do what ever it takes to make you a satisfied customer. I have dealt with other knife companies and have run into brick walls. NOT Kershaw! They go the extra mile to keep you coming back for more. So, what about this knife? It is what you would expect for a knife in this price range. It has a low failure rate. It is well built and in 99.99% of the time will not need to be returned or replaced do to a defective item (that's about one in 10,000). I own a lot of Kershaw knives and I have received a few duds. They were all replace or repaired at no cost to me. So when you're thinking of getting a knife. Ask yourself one very important question. If I get a bad one, can I get my money back, or get a new one? The answer when it comes to Kershaw is, undeniably, YES! One more thing. Kershaw is one of the only knife companies that I know if that offers FREE sharpening. Just send the knife to them and they will restore the blade to a razor sharp edge at no charge other then the cost of shipping it to them (about $10). They even cover the return shipping cost. I could go on and on, needless to say, buy a Kershaw knife and most likely, you'll want to but another one. I did with this one.

One of the best EDC knives
I'd give it 6 stars if that was possible. Absolutely superb EDC pocket knife. It has a good start as its made in the U.S. It's simple, powerful assisted open feature along with a secure safety lock that is also easy to manipulate and close the knife make one handed use both possible and easy. Out of the box there was no grit present and no roughness in opening/closing. Initial lube with CLP didn't improve functionality which, to me, indicates good design, assembly and packaging as CLP itself is a superb lube for close fitting machinery so, if its not improved it was good to begin with. The blade is 14C28N stainless steel and 'cerakoted' which adds to rust resistance. It was very sharp out of the box and while not as hard as other steels is also easier to sharpen well which is the nature of steel.

A little over 5 months ago I was fortunate enough to purchase my first Kershaw Blur with black handles, Tanto style blade in stonewashed finish, made from BDZ-1 Carpenter steel. The knife arrived quickly from Kershaw Guy and was literally the sharpest production knife out of the box that I've ever felt! I was very pleasantly surprised with the feel of the knife in hand and the deployment of the SpeedSafe assisted open, and the ease of one handed closing was addictive! The blade spine was so comfortable and smooth when closing, I almost thought it was rounded on the upper swedge. It was love at first sight, touch and firing! Lock up was solid both ways. I wasn't sure when ordering how I'd like the aluminum handles, as I'd never actually handled a Blur, only watched videos and read about them. But the shape, black finish like the lower on an AR-15, the thin streamlined feel, the grippy Trac-Tec material inserted in the sides, all combined beautifully to make a very comfortable, great looking and stable grip, despite the jimping on top at the pivot being a bit sub par. I can't speak to hard use yet. I love the Blurs so much, I've sort of babied them so far. While waiting for this BLUR in S30V, I was a little apprehensive as the first Blur had set the bar so high and was screaming sharp. Sure I hoped the S30V would come in razor sharp, centered and operating like the first, but the first was a tough act to follow. So I was already mentally prepared to overlook any minute shortcomings to gain the overall package of such a great knife. I needn't have worried, as again I was pleasantly surprised upon opening and firing the S30V blade. It was a little tight and slow on the first firing, but the 2nd and 3rd got faster as the new knife responded to the heat in my hand and the breaking in motion. Within 2 minutes of joyful "flicking", the blade was zinging out and locking rock solid as the first Blur. And last but not least, the blade in S30V was razor sharp. Now I have one for each hand and am quite proficient in deploying and closing both, as I am a lefty that has become somewhat ambidextrous. Though hopefully all I'll ever do with them is play with them, did I say the flicking is addictive, or open boxes, etc. I am totally satisfied with the Blur in S30V as well as the one in BDZ-1 steel. The long range use reports will have to wait, as I haven't had the chance to put them to any use, other thatn playing with the assisted open. I may very well need torsion bars for both before they actually cut anything. It may seem a bit curious to some, to baby Kershaw Blurs, but I like them that much, and have plenty of hard use and "beater" blades lying around. Still, I find myself liking the Blurs as much, if not more, than some in my varied collection costing much, much more. As far as first impression and satisfaction of tactile sensory input. I would totally recommend this knife.

Quick and useful
Have used this knife daily for two years straight. Blade cracked at the thumb stud after a year but Kershaw replaced it free. Seems to be a frequent failure judging by the reviews. The assisted opening is a must in my work. It's usually deployed one-handed by necessity and there can't be any fiddling around because the cutting task is often an emergency and it must be done quickly. Needs sharpening fairly often because I use it several times daily but it sharpens up quickly with a diamond hone. Besides the blade failure it’s been a no nonsense and hard working knife.

Most Affordable Quality Knife Made In The USA
This is my 3rd purchase of a Kershaw Blur. I initially purchased one for myself, and the other two I’ve given away as gifts over the last year. It’s one of the more affordable knives from an excellent company and more importantly they’re MADE IN THE USA. They come razor sharp, have strong locking mechanism, and the assisted opening makes it snap open and feel like a solid knife when locked in place with the liner lock securing the blade safely open. It has a deep carry pocket clip and best of all, like most quality knives is that it carries with the tip up. Both Blurs that I’ve given away the recipients have been ecstatic. 10/10 would recommend, again, and again, and again.

Great EDC knife!
This is an awesome EDC knife! Sharp right out of the box, easy open action and nice looking. It’s a little bulky but not enough for me to stop carrying it. You will be impressed.
