Pretty fun game
Quick, easy game to learn for anyone that has basic math skills. As for kids, they need to at least have learned about negative numbers to be able to play.

Great game!! Must buy for your collection
Very fun game. Learned about it from a friend and played with them. Immediately had to turn around and buy it for myself. Easy to get the hang of and fast paced. The cards are great quality. Cannot wait to share it with the rest of my family and friends!

Great filler game but scoring needs work
We are a big board/card game family and one of our favorite games is a card game called Skyjo in which you are trying to get the lowest score before going out. When I read the description of Nilsum, I jumped at the chance to order it to change up game night. The game is a single deck of cards in a small box that make it easy for tossing into a bag or even a pocket to carry around. Inside there are four cards that give the rules, scoring info and examples. The remaining cards are all number cards. Each player is given 5 cards that are face down. The cards range from-10 to positive 20. The -10 to +10 cards have doubles while 11-20 are only one per number. The object is to try to get the sum of all cards to 0 or as close to 0 as possible by the time one player turns over their last face down card. While it sounds simple there is some strategy to it. Do you want to go with a large positive number and try to get negative numbers to cancel it out or do you want to stick with lower numbers? There are reasons for both.... if you get exactly 0, your score is double the highest positive card in your hand. If players get close to, but not exactly 0, the closest player doubles their highest positive, 2nd gets scores their 2nd highest positive and 3rd gets their third. The scoring is where we had issues. There were a few times that I was 2nd closest player but had used a high numbered card and my other four were all negative. In that case, you score ZERO points even though you were ahead of other players. It was very frustrating to us each time it happened. We will end up making a house rule for scoring since the rest of the game was very fun.If it wasn't for the scoring issue, I would have given Nilsum a 5 star rating. It's a great game that is easy to pick up, easy to teach, portable and great for a quick filler, family game night or with friends who aren't into heavy games. At $13, it's definitely worth picking up for your collection.

Excellent game but short
Each play through lasts about 2 minutes, not 15. It’s very fast paced but that’s not a problem. Last time I played with my family we spent one hour playing this game, through several matches. Requires basic math (sum and subtraction of numbers ranging from 20 to minus 10)Edit: Five months later and we still love it and play it every single week!
