This item was designed very well for the intended purpose of protecting my desk. Prior to realising I needed this item, I discovered my desk mounted microphone clamp had squeezed the desk too hard and had created a dip/some minor damage. This desk was from a notable blue & yellow European company and the way they make this desk is compressed board in a white thin casing so the pressure of a heavy item plus the moving of the microphone arm was applying pressure every time in use. This item has secured the area, displaced the precise pressure points etc and also makes the desk clamp look better almost like it is a grander piece of skit. Due to the limited desk space I cannot buy more for my key lights that are also clamped on the desk but luckily, for now, these items are not causing damage like the mic arm had done so. I feel confident in recommending this item to others.

I had the typical IKEA tablet top with multiple monitors on a desk mount, I noticed that the weight was too much and that the table top was sagging. I spent the last year moving the mount until I ran out of space and the table top was on it’s last legs, when I bought a replacement table top I also bought this product to help distribute the monitors weight and its work like a treat. It’s been multiple months and the new IKEA table top looks brand new, this product is wonderful and I would recommend everyone to use this product, especially if they’re using an IKEA desk.

Although my experiment to have a dual monitor stand configuration spectacularly failed (the stand fell down along with the monitor) I do not blame the weight plate behind the failure. While the arms went back for a refund, I have kept the plate in case I decide to dabble in monitor stands again.

Great product, recommend if you are getting or have got a monitor stand. Protects desk from scratches and dents. Foam pad sticks well (best to get it right first time). Added my own felt pad for the bottom plate to protect the underside of the desk.
