Work well in Dimplex optimist fire
After reading reviews I decided to give these a try in my optimist fire, I replaced all 4 50w halogens with these, it still lights my log bed with a red glow, the mist still rises to the top of the fire. They are certainly more of a white light than my halogens, but the fire works as it should, 200w reduced to 16w is a no brainer for me.

Bought these for a fire effect
They look good and don't use much energy being leds

Bulbs are fine, but not for Optimyst!
I dare say the bulbs are fine for whatever dim orange glow you are looking for, just don't buy them for your Dimplex Optimyst fire!Despite what reviews say about using 2 of these LEDs in combination with 2 of the original Dimplex high power (hot) halogens, they just don't work for the Optimyst. This fire really needs the heat to drive the mist upwards, and halving the heat honestly does just half the effectiveness of the mist. The mist effect instantly makes for more of a smoking coal effect than a raging fire. It spoils the fire to be honest - despite the doubtless efficiency gains from using LEDs and not generating all that wasteful heat, I am going back to 4 halogens so that the fire works as designed again. What's more, the vapour penetrated these bulbs and I could see them fogging up inside. It probably wouldn't be long before an electrical short inside. Also, the brightness of these bulbs just doesn't compare to the Dimplex originals. If you alternate these with the originals, you are left with gaps in the light effect. I honestly don't even know what these bulbs would achieve outside of a fire - I doubt they would cast a shadow in a dark room. It's not fair to mark the bulbs down for them not working my intended purpose, so they get 4 stars. Just don't use for Optimyst!

Works with optimyst if replace half
Following on from a previous customer’s optimyst comment. We have an optimyst that needs 4 bulbs. We replaced two with these LEDs and left the other two as halogens. The brightness and colour are very good. The smoke still rises. When cold it lingers a little like a cold or damp fire would. But once warm it’s pretty good with the smoke effect almost as good as 4 bulbs. The important thing is it now uses 124 watts to run instead of 220.You can’t run all the lamps as LEDs as the smoke won’t rise. Bad design in a way as a simple fan would allow this to be a very energy efficient fire.Even though these bulbs say not dimmable, they don’t have any problems with the fade on and off the optimyst does... well they haven’t broken and don’t flicker when turning on or off.So if you have an optimyst fire, replacing two bulbs with these will work and save you quite a bit of money over a year. I reckon we will save £10-£20 this year alone.

Fine bulb but not for a Dimplex Optimyst
The bulbs themselves seem well made and work perfectly as described. However I intended them for an Optimyst fireplace and I discovered that they require the heat from 'normal' bulbs to cause the 'smoke' to rise. Take note if this is your intended use.

Lights for our fire.
They are really good. We use them for our fire. Said yellow on the box, but are as we ordered amber. The seller was so helpful when we queried it. In fact we have ordered some more.
