Big upgrade from e373.
Good value. Many more voices and styles. The select wheel /knobs sure is quick for selecting. Only one downside is having to go online for lisings of voices, styles and others. I did do it and printed off about 15 sheets of info.Don't know why they didn't include in the instruction book.Overall a good keyboard.

Amazing keyboard for beginners and professionals alike ...
I can't fault this keyboard. The features go well beyond the price paid. One review in here mentioned they had received a sustain pedal with the instrument, but this is not the case. However, sustain pedals aren't that expensive to buy.I've tried copying MIDI files from my PC to a flash drive and they play back perfectly. As far as adding Audio files to a flash drive, they unfortunately have to be in WAV format, which is no problem as the free Audacity software will save in that format, but I would have preferred it if MP3 files were also recognised.Having a Pitch Bend control and additional DSP2 Effects adds tremendously to the enjoyment of playing.

Very capable. Recommended.
Amazed by how the Yamaha PSR range has evolved, for the better. This was bought for hotel room practice but I ended up gigging with it.There isn't much it can't do. Very good sounds with a small amount of synthesis to allow some shaping. I do wish I'd bought the 425 with the extra keys, but, because there is only one split point, it's almost moot. The drum machine/arpeggiator is fine for most things. SMF playback. The left hand auto comping thing must be useful if you're out solo and there's endless style options. The four sample playback pads are very easy to load, trim, play. I like the keybed! Allows very fluid playing but not really for trad pianists at all. Fine for organ and synth.Very lightweight. Would prefer the single stick mod/pitch lever they have on the next product level up...better for expression and also better ergonomically. 32 user memory slots (registrations) - just enough for a gig, but not if you're switching patches for each section of a song. Unbalanced jack outs to your DIs. Onboard speakers on 473 about half as powerful as on 425...sound is excellent. Not enough grunt to rely on for a gig, but fine for practice. Mic input is unbalanced jack. There's loads more - it really does cover almost everything.Any criticism? Some of the sustained sounds have obvious loop points. Through a PA - no probs. For recording, nah.You can get classier sounds by paying more but we are talking 5-10% classier. And these things cover almost anything, including world instruments. Perhaps at the expense of chart friendly synth patches. The brass sections are notably good.If someone drops a lighting stand on your modx, and you've taken the time to programme this, it will drop straight into the rig as an affordable replacement.Nothing else in this price range comes close.

A simply amazing keyboard for the price
I'd been looking to get a new keyboard now for some time and had read reviews, seen YouTube demos, compared specs etc etc before settling on the Yamaha EW425. To say it has blown me away is an understatement. My old Yamaha was a model down from this and a few years old and the difference is incredible. Many of the voice samples are new and/or improved (and there are many more of them too), the keyboard extends an extra octave with increased polyphony and improved touch response. for a beginner there are demo tunes, auto play etc. For the more advanced player you can alter and shape voices to suite, customise rhythms and backings, add samples and there are a few "effects" in there should you want those. For around £400 this is unbeatable . Highly recommended .

Box had been opened
First impression was not good, box had been opened so effectively was not new, could not find the power cord, this was tucked away inside foam packaging, once connected I was blown away with the sound, glad i purchased the ew e425 and not the e473

So much for the money
The keyboard represents amazing value for money and the extra keys come with an better piano sample over the smaller version. plus better speakers. I doubt learners will ever need anything more.
