UPDATE: Upon seeing my review of a potential defective unit. The seller reached out to me to provide a replacement unit that does the minimal of being clear enough to read license plate.Nice small camera, setup was easy, app worked right away and connects to the phone with no issue. The recording quality is horrible though can't make out license plate numbers which seem important...and yes, the lens protection film was taken off. Night viability is good in terms of everything having enough light, but nothings is in focus. Either this product is really bad or I have a defective lens on this thing.

UPDATE: It's not perfect, but neither is the more expensive major brand I bought at the same time. I am upping to 4 stars because it's a unique item (mini cam WITH a display) and not bad overall quality for the price.UPDATE 2: Upping to full 5 stars because, despite not liking the USB port limitation, this continues to be better than more expensive brands. The sound pickup is better. There is a red record light (inside the speaker grill on the left) which runs even when the display is off. If it goes on sale again, I might get a spare because no dash cam lasts forever and it's so hard to find a good one.The USB port is charging only. You can't connect a normal USB cable to it to download videos. You have to remove the tiny card and use a card reader. My previous cameras know the difference between a power-only USB cable (usually included) and a real data connection, so they will run as a camera when only power is connected but allow you to access the memory card when connected to a computer. I prefer to just switch cables to load stuff to my phone that way, since wifi transfers of gigabytes of video are slow and the apps are always unreliable.A big plus is the inclusion of a tiny display so you can see what it is looking at. Many similar compact cameras have none at all.It does not appear to have any capacitor or battery, so it's dead as soon as the power cuts. I don't mean anything to run it a long time, just a 2-second power supply for proper shutdown and to survive power flickers.It really should have a better default password OMG. I don't really even want wifi, but now I have a hackable device unless I install a mystery app to change it (at least I hope you can).

Gets the job done, but some features are misleadingI’ve been using the AQUOTA Dash Cam Front daily, and overall, it does the basics well. It records consistently and the installation was super easy it only took me a few minutes to set up.The video quality is neither great nor terrible; it’s decent enough for basic recording needs. I haven’t had any issues with auto power-on or daily use.However, there are features listed on the box that simply don’t exist. The so-called “GPS watermark” that’s supposed to display speed and coordinates doesn’t work, or maybe it’s just not there at all. Same goes for the “Lane Departure Warning” it claims to alert you when you drift out of your lane, but there’s no such function in practice.In short, it’s a good choice if you only need a simple dash cam for daily driving. But if you’re expecting advanced features like real lane departure alerts or GPS data, this isn’t the right model. I’m still unsure whether I’d fully recommend it, it depends on what you’re looking for.

Feels cheap but takes great video! Smaller than I had thought but kinda nice. Reached out to seller to ask a question and they were very friendly and replied the same day. That means a lot to me as a buyer.

I installed this camera myself which was fairly easy and straight forward because it came with everything you need, plus instructions. Both cameras came with enough cable to make it a clean install by running wires under my moulding around headliner. I’ve only been using this system for a couple of weeks but everything seems to be work like it should. Only concern right now is it use to power on as soon as my car cranked up but now it’s got a delay in when the camera system comes on, but it does pop on just delayed some. The recording is clear and will capture everything in front & rear of your vehicle like it states.
