Must have for a reef tank
Good God I love this stuff. It's a carbon so I wouldn't double up with other carbon products especially since this stuff does such a great job. One bag lasts my reefer max e 170 almost two months.

MUST HAVE! My tanks dont go without it!
I love this stuff! It keeps my water crystal clear! Make sure you rinse it very well before putting in ur sump/filter because as with any carbon protect it does come dusty and needs rinsed but after you put it in, boy does it work great!

Good product, please please read note #2
Let me say that I believe this product does work well. I want to just list some points I think are worth mentioning. 1-rinse well, don't grind the bag, just rinse, like 5 mins. I rinse mine in bag then put in reactor, see #2 2-if using in a media reactor, DO NOT just put it in with your normal sponges or pre-filters or whatever you have in there. Use those but ALWAYS use 150micron or smaller mesh bag on the output. (felt might be better) I put mine on the bottom of my reactor (which is its output). Can I bold the 150Micron ? If you do not, you will see carbon bits in your white sugar grade sand. PS I also cut an extra felt mesh sock into round sections and added 2 of these just before the 150micron mesh. 3-Noticable PH increase for approx. 1 week. 0.4 increase. mine was 8.3, jumped to 8.7, system restabilized and is back to normal. 4-Helps clear water, everything looks great, all the frisches and corals and creatures are happy. 5- Less algae. 6- please read #2

Waste of money
I purchased this thinking it was something special. The label says it is moist and to drain and rinse prior to using. It also says to put it in the included media bag. I was looking for something other than charcoal. I opened this little jar (of which I would have needed 6 for my aquarium size) and it was dry tiny charcoal. The media bag was in the jar but in the middle of the charcoal. It was such a mess. I had to dump it all into a glass container, fish the bag out and rinse it while trying to not rinse half of the media down the drain. Then I tried to dump the charcoal into the bag and rinse more. It took a long time to run clear. I don't understand the price of this tiny jar of finely ground charcoal but I definitely won't be purchasing it again.

I use this in fine mesh bag in my canister fulter, it efficiently removes discoloration, bad smell from tank water. The organic scavenger resins absorb any organic products from water keeping the nitrates under control in between water changes.
