Q: Does the camera require a monthly paid subscription to function such as Arlo does?

A subscription is available if you want to store your data in the cloud, otherwise it is stored on the as card in the camera. It is not necessary for much else. I don’t have a subscription and I can still monitor everything home or away via the phone app.

Q: Can the camera send alert notification by email or just push to phone app?

I set it up to send notice by my phone app. It works well, actually it works so well that I feels annoyed later and I have to cut down the alert on the warning siren and phone notification. I did not set the cloud storage. The local storage is good enough for me. I like the function of this security camera so far.

Q: Does this camera send copies of anything to TP-Link or anyone else?

It sure what you mean but you can copy a portion of video and send a copy to whomever. If you speaking about privacy and having it not upload I’m not sure. I believe it only saves to the cloud with a subscription and any other stuff can be saved to a memory card that you can install yourself.

Q: Does this camera have continuous recording to the SD Card? Not just captured events. Need to to view any time period over several days.

Yes it does and more. Continuous 24/7 recording or you can select what days you want continuous as well as you can have some of the day continuous and other events only. From a Arlo customer for years I can’t believe how much better these cameras are outstanding clarity and it’s hard to believe the viewing in complete darkness and yet you can see everything so clear and the darkness is equivalent to dusk, trust me I first bought one and now I own (4) goodbye to arlo in which you can’t even identify someone at 10 feet away at night with spotlights
