Lab Math: A Handbook of Measurements, Calculations, and Other Quantitative Skills for Use at the Bench, 2nd edition

This book will not solve all of your problems as you most likely will need advanced mathematical and statistical books relative to your specific area but it's the best foundational math book I've ever read. You can very quickly find useful topics that you may have forgotten and it's a great intro to the more advanced topics. The statistics chapter was so clear and helpful for an overall perspective and then you can find more advanced applications in dedicated textbooks. A very practical primer for any scientist; I love this book. I also wish it were available on Kindle with "audio enabled."

This is a good type of book to keep in your lab. If you have doubt about simple basic concepts from different field of your expertise, it can help you. I guess that for biologists without a good notion of basic concepts of analytic chemistry this book can be useful. In addition, is nice to recommend to new undergrad students just arriving in the lab.

At first glance this book seemed like it would be really helpful. It has a very good diagram of dilutions and a good explanation of pH and solutions. However, there is no section on commonly used equations like osmolality and creatinine clearance. I thought this book was geared more towards the medical technologist because it does have a good hematology math section. But I was disapointed. Luckily I don't mind writing in my books.

If you're a new researcher or have been doing it forever, this book is excellent. I have been a bench scientist for seven years now, and have found this book highly useful. The picture on the cover was indeed my desk and lab-space until I got this book in hand. Definitely worth it, and make sure your fellow lab-mates don't try to permanently adopt it!

This is a great book for both the student, the experienced lab person and scientist. Math was never my strong side even though I have a B.A. Biology and M.S. Ecology. This book helps fill in the gaps.

I recently purchased this item, which is published by Cold Spring Harbour Press. It is concise and easy to understand. I recommend it.

Kind of helped but made some things harder than they needed to be

I needed this book for my biomedical sciences degree, and it was worth it. Explains stuff simply, the actual book design did put me off, it is a small book , but defo worth it !

This book is a good reference book for refreshing our math skills at the bench. Recommended for biologists who have trouble remembering formulas and calculations relevant to the work. Four stars because the book I received from bookreadersindia was slightly damaged and took almost a month to receive it from them. Not quite happy with the seller's service.
