It's kinda rough to use.
It's kinda rough to use compared to my usual shave. But it might have something to do with the blade quality I am using.

Good product to dip your toes into DE shaving
This was my first safety razor, as I was curious about trying it, but didn't want to break the bank. I'm BAD about getting razor rash and wanted to see if this would help, and it definitely does. If you struggle from razor rash, I say throw Amazon your 4 bucks and give this a shot. At the time I bought this, it was like $3.99 so no regrets here. I used the included blades, which seemed good enough, but I bought some Gillette blades and they seemed a bit sharper, but nothing night and day. Time will tell how durable it is, but I've used it 3 times so I've already saved money versus having to throw away a cartridge after a few shaves with my old Gillette fusion, which was like $4+ per blade vs the .10¢ or .15¢ a blade for this razor costs. I paired it with the Menesia Badger hair shaving brush for like $8 and my face has never been smoother! Ive been using some cremo shave cream that I already had, and using a brush took it to the next level but I'm going to order some Proraso next.

Close shave after correcting blade position
Decent razor, feels good in the hand and provided a good shave once I properly aligned the blade on the razor. The blade locating pins are just a bit thin, allowing the blade to move more than it should. Once the blade position and reveal is correct and the handle is secured, the shaving experience was good

Quality seems good so far
Not sure why there are razors like this one that cost $20+ and this one was much less than that, so far been using for about a month and have no issues with it at all. Works as intended, have not even changed the first razor yet and it’s still sharp. I use it to shave my legs, I have coarse thick hair and this leaves my skin so soft and does not cause any irritation. I feel like I have less ingrown hairs as well. I can’t imagine going back to a cartridge razor.

So far I have liked it
It has been good so far. I can't really say anything bad about it.

Arrived damaged
Bent terribly on one side, didn't how bad until I cut myself while shaving. Not enough of a loss to waste my time returning it for a replacement or refund.. just super disappointing.

Nice looking razor
But the blades didn't shave my beard well at all. I will try a different brand blades.

The old ways are better than modern - shave like your Grandaddy did!!
I bought this to try an old-school razor design - Does this ever deliver! I was happy with my clamshell and not expecting a huge difference, but the blade was always getting loose; I wanted a razor that held the blade more securely. Now my clamshell is gathering dust - I haven't shaved with it since the Utopia arrived! For the price of ONE "modern" blade refill, you get the razor & 5 blades! And stop trying to save money by using the blades longer! I switched to DE bc I was tired of that - and with lots of quality blades < $0.10 each there's just no need. Use a fresh blade every time and still save loads of money, over even the short term.

Seems like a great value!
Not going to lie, I am skeptical. I bought this because I didn't want to take my ridiculously overpriced (it was a gift) razor with me when I travel. At $11 I had low expectations and it has easily surpassed them. I'm a daily shaver and this review comes after a couple shaves. It has a descent weight to it and the blades do an adequate job. Rinses well and doesn't appear to gum up. If I were to complain about anything it would be that the tabs on the ends of the blade stick out of the sides in the head unlike on my pricier razor that has a slightly longer head. This doesn't affect the performance in any way and the blade isn't exposed in any way so not going to deduct any stars when it's only $11! Seems like good bang for the buck, I would buy it again. If it falls apart or rusts in the next month I'll update, but for now it's doing the job I need it to.

Excellent. I've recommended it for my husband.
I bought this for myself; I was tired of the pink-plastic-disposable-razor-blade cycle of frustration. (Not to mention that I'm hideously cheap and trying to lower my eco-footprint).Immediate likes: the blades are easy to install, the handle and head have a really nice weight to them and the packaging makes you feel like you're an important person.I've never used a safety razor before, so I figured I would slice up my legs and underarms while swearing furiously. This was not the case. On my first and second tries, I got a couple of small cuts, but nothing more than the average pink-plastic reality I lived with before. So I was pleased, especially since I hadn't gotten over the learning curve yet. Here is where I get impressed: I hadn't shaved my legs in 6 months. Seriously. I call it 'Canadian Female in Winter Mode'. And this just did the job, quickly and quietly with an unassuming attitude. Like asking someone from Olivia Pope's team to 'take care of someone', it was done, cleaned up and looking spiffy for the next round like nothing had ever happened. For me, whenever I neglect my shaving (let's be honest: that's all the time), it can be hell to get hair out from between the blades of a multi-blade razor. And this was no problem to clean up. I also didn't use shaving cream, and instead I opted for a good 'ole bar of soap. It worked great.I've read that not all blades are made equal, so while the Derby blades that come with this have worked out well for me, I'm looking forward to buying a variety pack of different brands and testing them out. Were there any negatives? I guess the handle got a little slippery in the shower, but I didn't drop it (yet). And I suppose that when I do drop it, it could damage the tub or myself. Additionally, I've got a toddler, and I don't leave it in the shower. This sucker is sharp.

Say goodbye to supermarket razors! AND save money.
I have super sensitive skin and used to get very bad razorburn from supermarket razors. This is a fantastic first safety razor! The handle and head were simple to set up and use.I used the supplied razor-blades once and then upgraded to some Astra Blades that costs about $1 for 5 (eBay or Google them).I get a much better shave with this setup compared to any of the supermarket bought multi blade cartridges such as Gillette or Schick.Just make sure you use a good quality preshave oil, shave soap and calming aftershave balm.If you're nervous, like I was, watch some wet shave safety razor tutorial videos on YouTube.Enjoy the smoothest face ever!

Old style better
Very well made. Ok , there’s not much to go wrong with it , but I imagine it’s going to last a long time. Also , economical and eco-friendly.

Well weighted handle ..but head alignment is meh so shave quality varies
I am a female who is tired of the cost and waste of disposable razors. I have never used one of these before but thought it was worth trying as the price was about the same as a cheap pack of my regulars and couldn't be any worse than some disposables I have tried. Menopause has gifted me unwanted facial hair which is easier and less painful to shave than to wax and those cheap $30-40 gold plated depilatory gadgets get expensive to replace the heads and batteries on and Nair gave me a horrible chemical burn. This is a solid heavy razor. I like how sturdy it feels in my hand and the length of the handle. I also find the included Derby Extra blades easy to use, provide a fairly close shave. I have not nicked myself yet, but did feel the blade pull and skip after being used a few times. I just changed to a new blade when this happened. The problem I find is that the head seems hit and miss to align so you either get 6-8 days of great shaves to remove the ladystache and chinny chin chillies on one blade or a finicky angle of attack when shaving or no blade to skin contact and constant tweaking the adjustment and blade placement til you find that sweet spot. I even tried 3 new blades one after the other before I had the same effortless shave(s) as from the first blade I tried. The weight of it and the heft in the handle still feels good even if the blade doesn't. I know I need more practice with this style of razor but this is more of a design flaw than inexperience I think. I can see bubbles or pits on the top of the head under the enamel and the gap between the top and bottom of the the head pieces is slightly different and can be clearly seen when a blade is between the two when you lokn at it from the short side. Adjusting the tightness of the screw usually doesn't help nor does having the blade with the 1/2 side or 3/4 side up. It seems to be about the way the blade is held in the head and nths of a degree matter. This set is a good cheap way to test the waters of using a single blade razor. I am going to look for a slightly pricier one but may use the handle from this one to customize it. For me, no matter what sensitive bits I am shaving I like having a razor that feels good and heavy in the hand that won't slip. This meets that criteria, I just wish I could count on good shaves all the time without having to fiddle with the way the blade sits. But what do you expect for $12, right? Ladies, I do recommend trying a single blade razor even with these issues it is a game changer.
