I bought these as stocking stuffers for all the men in the family last Christmas. I remembered my Dad having one as a kid and thought it would be funny! Everyone absolutely loved them!!!

These pens will definitely be your ideal choice. They are well-made, have a sturdy feel, and won't be easily damaged even if they are casually stuffed into a bag. These pens have excellent writing performance, and I like the design where you can adjust the pen tip length by turning the end of the pen tip.

When I was a kid, every time we went on vacation and visited gift shops, we saw the local version of these pens: plastic ballpoint pens with a clear gel in the barrel, with a tiny version of whatever was locally known, like sand and miniature shells from the beach, or little plastic stars for a conservatory. These updated pens are a little more substantial than the originals, with a wider girth than I remember. Of course this means you can fit more things in the barrel, like a speedboat and a kraken. The ballpoint refills work fine and have a nice ink flow. The themes are more original than the standard sand and seashells. But ultimately they still feel cheaply built and light in hand. For the current retail price, I do not think they are worth it. I have no desire to use these as writing utensils. I could see them being split up and matched with similarly themed notebooks for a fun gift.

This pen is hilarious and surprisingly fun to write with! I first spotted it on the show Yellowjackets and got such a kick out of it that I had to get one for myself. It’s definitely a conversation starter—every time I pull it out to jot something down in my daily planner, it gets a laugh. Despite being a novelty item, it actually writes pretty smoothly, which was a nice surprise. It’s not the kind of pen you’d take to a serious meeting, but for everyday use at home or just for a good chuckle, it’s perfect.

I bought these for my husband to take to work. He works with older guys who remember these and they love it.
