A wonderful treat!
Absolutely delicious with a wonderful texture. The mochi is smooth and chewy broken up by the bits of crunchy walnut. The soybean lends a roasted toasty nuttiness that cuts through the sweetness.

An ok, simple snack
This is mochi containing bits of walnut, bagged and dusted inside a heap of kinako flour. It's a simple snack. Mochi is sticky rice pounded into a gel. Kinako is roasted soybean flour. Kurumi means "walnut." There were about 10 mochi balls in the bag I received. Each was about 3 cm in diameter. The bag also contains a small packet of an oxygen absorber as a food preservative that you shouldn't eat. They arrived fresh and remained fresh after days of being tightly re-wrapped and not refrigerated. There was much more kinako than was needed to coat the mochi, but I don't mind. After I bit the mochi, I dabbed the newly exposed part into the pile of kinako to coat it again. I ate it all little by little over a few sittings. Soybean flour is high in protein. The nutrution label says the bag contains 4 servings of 1.9 oz each. 170 Calories, 2 g protein, and 27 g (54% daily value) of added sugar per serving. I guess they add so much sugar because the flour tastes somewhat bitter. Even so, the flour dilutes the sugary taste. I question if the label counts the protein of all the kinako that most people probably will throw away. 2 g seems low. There's a P65 warning on my label, but I have absolutely no idea why. All of the ingredients are from commonly eaten plants and milk. The taste was mild and bittersweet overall. It would pair well with hot tea. I think there was too much kinako flour in the bag I received. There were about two small bits of walnut in each mochi ball. The walnut texture was a nice contrast to the soft mochi texture. I don't like raw walnuts as they leave an unpleasant aftertaste, but these kinako kurumi mochi tasted ok to me. This was the first time I tried kinako mochi. Overall, the quality was good considering its plain ingredients.

Great Japan Asia Japanese Rice Cake desert balls products with lots of nice ingredients! :)
Although these items look great and delicious my first order of this product was damage and pulverized during shipping by the Amazon.com delivery truck driver. Since the size according to the original amazon listing looks very big in ball sizes in a powdery form, I am so in love with these items as this would be my new desert of the month and forever as well! :) I really love Japanese Japan Asia deserts of all kinds like this and it to me could be the best value for money in a perishable pouch if handled properly that is. The smell and freshness brings joy to my new Japan desert sessions forever like this and I am very pleased I found this food desert sweet item on the amazon.com listing entirely! :) It is also filling but to much could lead to a crazy desert craze for more to be had also.

Best mochi ever!
The beautiful fan design of the bag's closure is so Japanese! Deliciously soft mochi full of rich flavor. Umaya uses natural ingredients and it makes a big difference compared to those boxed brightly colored mochi. And lots of tasty soy powder at the bottom of the bag can be sprinkled on almost anything!

Undecided
Good taste, but the texture is a bit too dense, and the product sits heavy in the stomach. Also a tad too expensive, though you won't eat this kind too often.
